About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get out of town. I love Portland but I want to be traveling in Central America or South America this Fall.

ABOUT ME

I'm about to travel to the places I studied in 6th grade: Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia and Colombia. Up until this year I thought I would be out of Portland every winter but every winter up until now I was within Portland's city limits. Earlier this year I traveled to Nicaragua and Panama. My recent article in the Miami Herald was about the Dominican Republic: www.miamiherald.com/2011/07/31/2332088/quick-trips-finding-snorkeling.html

PHILOSOPHY

I can't say I had specific goals in life. I knew I would complete college but job-wise or status-wise I would pursue what felt right. I often describe myself as a fish in a river or stream who goes with the current.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm older than most couchsurfers but young at heart and I like to keep active through dance, bicycling and working out. In Portland I'm a member of Cascade Zydeco, a group that meets weekly to dance to cajun and zydeco music. We sponsor live dances about once a month. Personally, I share the house with housemates but we have a futon to share with travelers passing through.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Brand new to the organization though I have attended couch surfing gatherings this summer in Portland.

Interests

I'm a world traveler but of course have not been everywhere. I love how helpful people can be when you are traveling through their country. I once met a man in Turkey who was very generous. I told him before leaving that he felt more like a brother to me than the brother I do have in L.A. I'm glad my brother in L.A. ins not a couch surfer, at least not yet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music and dance. Currently discovering all the blues bars in Portland.....may step into tango down the road.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Attending a concert in San Francisco called The Last Waltz. Covering the war in El Salvador before most couch surfers were born. Riding my bike to my workout club today......that is a workout in itself and I didn't drive and burn up any gas.

Teach, Learn, Share

A little about writing. A little about taking pictures.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
