关于我

CURRENT MISSION

I want to build my own map that describes the world in terms of not just roads and topography, but also people, stories, and the backroads taken solely for the purpose of seeing where they go.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Southern California, and am moving up to Seattle soon to take a job as a Mechanical Engineer. I'm hoping to learn tons about how to build awesome machines and learn all about that new local in the process.

In my spare time, I like to do all kinds of things, including fun stuff like drinking and partying to outdoorsy stuff like backpacking or rock climbing to athletic stuff like racquetball or skateboarding to creative stuff like designing/building sculptural objects or my own furniture to scholarly stuff like reading novels or discussing philosophical questions.

On my more spare time, I like to travel and learn about new places. My buddy Kylo and I have made it a goal to travel to all different parts of this globe and experience new things wherever we can. We want to see the touristy things, but also see the backsides of a lot of places that most people never notice.

PHILOSOPHY

In large part, I believe that life is about confronting challenges and always being proactive about working towards what you value most.

I believe that people have an incredible power to do just about anything that they commit their minds to, and love to see what people can accomplish when they put their whole hearts into something.

I place a lot of importance into the idea of building towards a future, which probably has a lot to do with my interest in engineering. I look at nearly everything I do in life as a learning experience that I can use to improve myself as a person. Every mistake made is a chance to do better next time, every person met is a chance to better understand the human mind, and every place visited is a chance to better appreciate the diversity of the world we live in.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I'm looking to find some places to stay and people to learn from in an upcoming trip around New England and Canada. Once I get settled up in Seattle, I'd love to start hosting some people there so we can learn about the place together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, none.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

In my senior year of college, the members of my dorm pooled together and bought an old school bus. We stripped the bus of all of its seats and replaced them with couches, shelving, etc. and registered it as an RV. In the last few months of school, I went on three different road trips in the bus, including an 1100+ mile trip around California that included driving through a 100 degree desert, over an 8000 ft elevation pass in the Sierras while it was snowing, and down the Pacific Coast Highway where many of the turns had 25 mph speed limits and the bus was about 10 feet longer than any vehicle should have been on that road. We went through a keg of the delicious Dale Bros. California Black Beer during the trip, and blew a brake line while coming down the PCH. This was easily one of the most awesome trips I've ever been on.

教,学,和分享

I'm pretty decent with tools, especially wood-working. I've done a fair amount of construction type work, and love to pass on the knowledge I have there. At the same time, I know that there is a whole world of knowledge about building things that I have yet to acquire. I want to learn to weld. I want to learn to drive big land-moving equipment. I want to do it all.

I know how to brew beer. I've done it on an off for the past few years, and have had mixed results. I'd be glad to pass on that knowledge, if anyone's interested.

I'm always open to a good philosophical debate.
