About Me

I would describe myself as a nice, humorous person who is tolerant, patient and not one who takes himself too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being not exactly what you would call a Globetrotter, I do try to get out of my comfort-zone - which is why I am in Madrid right now, doing an internship at the Complutense University! Learning a new language and getting to know a different culture and people are my main goals during my 3 months stay in Spain (one is reserved for travelling through the countries south), which is why I joined Couchsurfing - mainly as a means to meet local people.

Interests

When I don't study (haha), I like to read a book, go out with friends, party, the usual stuff. I also do like to watch football, but I'm no real "fanatic" about it. And if it comes to playing myself, I would say this is even more fun! So sports I do like to take part in are Swimming, Badminton, Football and Table Tennis.

One of my other hobbies is writing songs (lyrics, and a little composition) and trying my own limited stuff and singing

Music, Movies, and Books

Depeche Mode can be easily placed as my favorite band, but especially when going out, I'm not exclusive to this kind of music. Bands I do like, or which have songs I like, span from Placebo, Alter Bridge, System of a Down and Rammstein (prob. my second favorite) to Keane, RHCP or White Lies - And if it's a party or a car drive, I don't mind the casual radio pop, 80s or 90s, Eurodance or other "trashy" stuff at all :)

Favorite Movie: Heat. Honorable mentions are e.g. Lawrence of Arabia, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Terminator 2, Schindler's List...

Books/authors I like or recently read: What comes to mind is Tolkien stuff (e.g. the Silmarillion) and ASOIAF, Christian Kracht, "Der Steppenwolf", Heinrich Böll "Der Schwarm" by Schaetzing and " Adams Fuge" by Steven Uhly and "1984" by Orwell left me quite shattered, great book!

Series are also fun, I like and/or recently watched: Shameless, Girls, Game of Thrones, Better Call Saul, Fargo, True Detective (1st season; I highly recommend it!) and of course the inevitable Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. Malcolm in the Middle is really fun, too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Feels awkward to judge for myself what was amazing that I did. I could name my one gig with my band, where we finished 2nd in a 4-band-contest :D but only because I feel like going on stage and putting yourself out there is kind of a stressfull thing where you have to overcome your nerves, not because I think we were such a revelation to our crowd.

I would say, making people happy is amazing. And I really make an effort to be a person, that makes his friends and family happy, either by being around them or creating presents with various creative input. That's it. That's my answer: I make people happy!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I am no educator, but I am pretty confident about my english and also my german :D

I can tell you a bit about evolution if you like, since I study biology, but don't ask me for the name of any given tree, bird or insect that we encounter! What can we share.... well, for starters, we could talk about stereotypes, the german ones and/or the spanish! Let's meet and share tapas with Weißwurst, I wear Lederhosen and we watch a Bullfight! Oh, and if you can show me Spain, its secret best places and maybe help me here and there with my spanish, that would be great!
