About Me

~Hello everyone!~

I'm Sergio. I'm a Software Engineer from Mexico that loves to travel and meet new people.
I love to learn languages, I can speak English fluently, Spanish since it is my mother language, Japanese to some extent and it is the language I am currently learning, some French although it may be very rusty.

I like to play videogames with my friends, hang out with them and go to coffee shops and also play some board games. We could say I'm a geek/nerd that knows some stuff about anime, sci-fi movies, tech, internet culture, etc.
I love Star Wars, Cowboy Bebop, Fallout, Persona 5, Overwatch, Minecraft.

I've been planning a trip to Japan for almost 3+ years, at first I wanted to go just to visit as a tourist, but then the opportunity came to go there and study for an extended period of time.
I like Japanese culture a lot, I've always wanted to go and experience it for myself. I am currently learning Japanese in an online school, it's something I enjoy very much.

I like to share my experiences, listen to other people's stories and make new friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A couple of friends recommended me CS, but never gave it the chance to experience it.

Now that I plan to go to Japan, I'd love to meet people from all around the world. Make new friends and share our cultures together!

Although I have not received any guests before, it is something I definitely want to give back once I return from Japan!

MOVIES

- Star Wars: Rouge One
- The Mandalorian

- Back to the Future

BOOKS

I am not much of a reader myself, it takes me too long to get me hooked up to a book, and I tend to leave the book unread. But one of the books I read that I really liked is called "After Dark" by Haruki Murakami. Which takes place in Tokyo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born in Morelia, Michoacan. Then, when I was 2 years old, I moved to another city. Then again, at age 4, I moved to Leon, Guanajuato. I lived there almost my entire childhood. But when I finished my first year in junior high school, I moved to Panama.
Panama City is an amazing place, many people from all around Latin America live there. I lived here for 4 years.
Then I returned to my city, Leon.

I lived here ever since. But definetely, I consider myself a person who had moved a lot and is open for changes.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH

I can teach you Spanish. Although I do not have any educational background on the language, it is my mother language and I'd say I have pretty good grammar and syntax knowledge on it. Therefore, I can teach you some!
Same thing applies for English. I do not have any title as a teacher, but I speak English everyday at work. I use it everyday and tend to listen to videos, music, almost everything in English. So I could teach you some too!

LEARN

I am currently learning Japanese, this is the language I currently want to greatly improve upon. I have been studying Japanese about 3+ years. I took the JLPT N5 and approved it, N4 did not approve but I want to take it again next time!
I was also in a Katana Combat classes. And grew very fond of it, I really enjoyed it. So martial arts in general or swordsmanship is something I want to keep learning.
Finally, Korean! That is the next language I want to learn.

SHARE

I consider myself an open book. I can talk about anything you want. We can discuss any topic you want. Although I might not be very knowledgeable in every topic, I can give my point of view.
I have been to the USA, UK, Ireland, Panama and Mexico. So I have a couple of stories from the places I visited!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I consider myself a clean person, meaning, I regularly clean my workspace, my eating space and day-to-day spaces. I can help you out with chores like dusting off shelves, cleaning/doing the dishes, sweeping, moping, etc.

I have the Software Engineering background, so If any trouble with Wi-Fi, PC or Phones come up, I will definitely try to help out.

Any questions regarding my country, my background, stories you want to hear. I will give my best to answer for you!
