About Me

Hi. This is Shalmalee. I am a student, preparing for the exams which will allow me to do a PhD in Physics in India. I love traveling to different places. I want to travel many more places in coming years. I also like having a variety of food. I want to taste each and every type of cheese in the world. Yes, I am serious. Also, I love to listen to music. I believe every country has a typical kind of tune. So, I want to listen to those tunes and enjoy them (while I am having cheese. ;)). Plus, I want to attend different festivals in every "corner" in the world, however small.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing in the TedX lecture by Tomislav Perko who himself used couchsurfing many times, he says. So, when I visited the website and got the gist of what it does, I was very happy. As I am a student right now, I am almost all the time low on money. However, I love traveling. So, if I can travel many more places by spending comparatively less money, I would definitely be happier. And that's what I want me to be: Happier.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I went on a Kedarkantha trek last year(2015 December) in Uttarakhanda, India. It's a winter trek. And while coming back, we had to slide on the ice. So, there was this point from where I was supposed to slide down. At that starting point, there was another path leading to a slippery branch. And I accidentally slid on that path resulting into a bumpy, horrific ride all the way down. Fortunately for me, it ended to the almost same point where the other path could've landed me. But for those fractions of seconds, I was terrified and thrilled at the same time. I wasn't thinking about anything. I went completely blank. I wasn't sure I was going to make it in one piece. But, yay, I did. Plus, since I was covered with snow, even if I had any bruises, I got to put an ice on the bruises for free. (For a very long time, though.). I am happy that I survived this.
