To keep travelin'!
I am from the US (Philly) and have been in Cairo for the past 2 years. Previously, I lived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for 2 years and previous to Dar, I lived in Johannesburg, South Africa for 3 years. I was trying to get off the continent, but that just didn't happen!!! I am fun, adventurous, and love to travel any time I can. I am open-minded, always up for a good time, and love having great conversations.
To never settle or to live life the way you are "supposed to"--it has to be what you want!!! To do what feels right even if it does not fit the norm. To treat others with respect and to approach life with eyes wide open.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host people and also meet up for drinks or dinner.
I have hosted a few people and it has been fun!
family, friends, traveling, reading, laughing, wine, great food, trying new things, learning, cooking, playing hostess, great conversation, did I mention wine???
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are so many--who has just one????
-selling everything I owned and moving to Africa
--witnessing my Masai friend become an elder in his tribe and celebrating all weekend in his village
-gorilla trekking in the Congo!!!
-witnessing on a daily basis people from different countries, from every religion, every ethnicity, live and learn together in harmony
-a micro-flight over Victoria Falls when they are full force
-being the first person through the gate into the Taj Mahal and seeing it with no one in the way!
-so many game drives in Africa--seeing the animals in their natural habitat never gets old
-having drinks with the former president of Nicaragua and his cronies on a remote island resort on Lake Nicaragua--they were celebrating his release from prison and planning his return to the top
-seeing my students in Dar test the eyes of members of a local community and sending them to the clinic for glasses and surgeries paid for by the money the students had raised
-skydiving--it was the most peaceful feeling ever
-drinking homemade beer with the villagers in a remote location in Lesotho--it tasted like soap, but they did not seem to mind!
-drinking warm beer at a bar in the Congo, after gorilla trekking, and having a conversation with 2 Rwandan men about the odds of Obama being elected president
