To live vicariously through the pirates of world history!
Simon is my name, although I never really call myself anything, and sometimes it still sounds funny when other people use it. I'm bad with names generally, actually. I like pirates! In fact, I study and teach them for a living.I've been travelling a lot over the last few years. Studying in England for a few years. It's like travelling - back in time! I'm from Aotearoa NZ, and plan to return just as soon as I've had my fill. But it could take a while, we'll see.I haven't really been in a position to host anyone yet, but have been fortunate enough to stay with some truly wonderful people. In Mexico, Singapore and Malaysia, India, and all over the emerging nation that is 'Europe'! All good places, all good people.I'm also vegetarian, which tends to be useful info in the CS world... I love this site, and the people from all walks who inevitably fall for its charms. Hospitality is a wonderful thing.
Piratical and vegetarian.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I now have a fold out couch for anyone passing through. Although I'm often away, but if the dates are right then I'm happy to host.
Mostly I've been hosted: I've slept on floors and rooftops (!), couches and beds of all kinds. I can be invisible and do my thing or active and engaged. Just happy to learn other people's rhythms and find the counterpoint...
From flash floods in Veracruz to the pubs of Merida to the beaches of Tulum. Suburbs of Singapore, and the quiet corners of the world everywhere. Even the exceedingly uncommon bad experience has been great in hindsight, and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything!
Music? Um, I especially like punk rock, but almost anything goes (and I play drums). I smoke, drink, and enjoy merrymaking.
