Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

besides donating $25….not a lot…at least not right now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've waken up on people's couches after a questionable night of debauchery and my wallet and keys were still around my general vicinity. I am afraid of bed bugs though after the NY reports….*prays that I don't get bitten by them on someone's couch.*

Interests

1. Reading…any kind of reading.
2. I could listen to NPR all day long. I love you Diane Rehm. Not feeling the guys who comprise (wasn't trying to rhyme there) the Barbershop - too scripted.
3. I hate lifetime but I love watching Drop Dead Diva! - say what you will.
4. Hates the effects of cultural imperialism on my indian communities - not sure how many communities intend to remain culturally resilient.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: anything that resonates with me. I can go from bagpipes to choir to country to blue grass. it just depends - kinda manic. I grew up listening to country so anytime I hear "Neon Moon" by Brooks and Dunn, I practically stop anything I am doing and go into two-stepping mode. haha.

Books: I love books on existential philosophy. I like to read those books that have been banned or burned at one point in their lives.

Books on my desk: East of Eden by John Steinbeck - The Conference of the Birds by Farid Ud-Din Attar - Letters from the Earth by Mark Twain - Irrational Man by William Barrett - How To Be Idle by Tom Hodgkinson - Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie - The Intellectual Devotional by Kidder & Oppenheim (cuz I need some trivial info sometimes)

Movies: The Good, Bad, and the Ugly - Breakfast at Tiffanys - Steel Magnolias - Dutch - others but drawing a blank right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Surviving to the current age of 28 - plenty of times that I could have been taken out of the game.
2. Prevented suicidal people from taking their lives.
3. Was a firefighter on a hotshot crew going to and fro different states fighting wildland fires.
4. Ran a half-marathon
5. 1st defining moment: As a youngster, everytime I had to use the restroom, I had to take off one pant leg. Then one day I went to the restroom without having to take off said pant leg - joyous/momentus!
6. Sat in the President of the United State's Chair when Bill Clinton was in Office.
7. Shook hands with Oprah when I was given a scholarship.
8. Testified at a Senate Hearing for the Committee on Indian Affairs on the topic of Youth Suicide in Indian Communities.
9. Had my first kiss in college. The guy I kissed said, "You taste like coconut." - little did he know, I was drinking Malibu (ghetto) at the time.
