About Me
CURRENT MISSION
At the moment, successfully complete a one month, all you can jet adventure!
ABOUT ME
I'm an artist, but employed as a counselor/supervisor of delinquent youth. It's an okay fit for me, as one-on-one counseling is something I enjoy. There just isn't as much opportunity for that in my job as I would like. I'm crazy about music, love dancing (especially salsa!), singing, films, travel, working out, reading, concerts, theater, museums--all kinds of culture!! Speak Spanish, lived for 2.5 years in Puerto Rico, and would love to live out of the country again. I'm a person who jumps at the chance to have new experiences, and is interested in other people and other cultures.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to be as polite and kind and considerate as I can. My basic philosophy is to try to treat others the way I would like to be treated. I also make an effort to not reciprocate unkindness or rudeness in kind. Taking things impersonally is a goal, and I'm able to do that most of the time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Brand new to the site, and still figuring out how everything works. The plan at the moment is to meet and host folks in the future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm a newbie. Heard about the site, and am heading off to a couple of cities where I need a couch!!
Interests
I think I pretty much named them all above! Oh, I also have an interest in learning more about finance (strange, I know), getting more into yoga and tap dancing, meditation, and fine dining (although I can't cook to save my life!). Shopping isn't a hobby for me; it's a competitive bargain-hunting sport! (So I try not to do it too often!) I'm interested in reading more classics and philosophy, studying interior design, picking up more languages. Just about everything....

Music, Movies, and Books
"The Lives of Others" "Lars & the Real Girl" "The Matrix" "Meet Joe Black" "Gattaca" "Groundhog Day" Beatles, Beach Boys, Prince, Lots of 80s and early Rap/Hip-Hop. Simon & Garfunkel, Sinatra and Standards, Old School Salsa, Jazz Solo Piano, Straight-Ahead Jazz, Pride and Prejudice, Twilight Series (sorry!), Malcolm Gladwell, The Big Short, Harry Potter Series, Hoping to get to Proust and the popular Swedish series w/ Salander.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Puerto Rico for 2.5 years was a pretty huge influencing experience for me. I wasn't' always happy, but the effect of becoming semi-assimilated into a culture with a different climate, language, and traditions was really broadening. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a little bit about meditation, some basic yoga, breathing exercises. I can help with basic Spanish. Know the basics of ballet technique, how to read music, some piano technique, and the fundamentals of aerobic training and weight lifting. Basic active listening, basic astrology, psychology. Lots of little bits of many things. Not a huge amount in super-depth.
