Travel the world and learn new languages!
I'm a recent graduate from the university of Massachusetts Amherst and I'm spending my down time between degrees and jobs to travel.
I absolutely love traveling and love to learn new languages. Currently, I'm traveling in Europe with my best friends and my boyfriend. So far we've made it to Oslo, Norway and Amsterdam, Netherlands with our next stop in the lovely Paris, France.
So far our group includes a personal trainer, a English literature major, a biologist, a computer scientist and a linguist. So our group's an odd one but we'll never leave you bored!
I believe everyone should travel at least once in their lives. It's an irreplaceable experience that will forever change who you are and how you see the world not to mention the people you will meet will help you see who you really are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I'm only surfing since I'm currently abroad.
However, when I'm back in SF I would be honored to take anyone around and show them everything my home city has to offer.
I've had great experiences with couchsurfing and to be completely honest about it, I was completely terrified about the whole concept before. But one day a couple summers ago I had to come to Amherst, MA for about 3 days and I had nowhere to stay so I figured that I'd take my chances and ended up having a pretty fun time.
After that I couldn't wait to try my luck in a big city-like Boston- and I haven't looked back!
I'm interested in a bunch of things, most of which have absolutely nothing to do with one another like reading and playing Risk. With that being said I like to read, chat, discuss the nature of the universe, play video games, and sleep.
Music, Movies, and Books
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE BOOKS!!!
Classics, Sci-fi, Mystery, Comics, Manga, Manhwa, Novels, Educational, you name it I'll read it!
to list a few:
Anything by Terry Pratchett (love him), Harry Potter Series, Series of Unfortunate Events and rather anything by Lemony Snicket, Garth Nix, Neil Gaiman, Steig Larson, J.R.R.Tolken, C.S. Lewis, Gregory Maguire (Wicked and such), Agatha Christie, and the likes.
My favorate Manga-ka's are Ayano Yamane, Eiichiro Oda, Matsuri Akino, and Jeon Jin-seok (manhwa).
As for Movies I must say my favorite are usually Sci-fi movies and Psychological Thrillers, though I do enjoy many other genres profusely.
As for music, I'm just starting to get into electronic music but I'll listen to anything except country music and mariachi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The single most amazing thing that I've done was go see my Best Friend Maryanne in China when she moved away. I was completely devistated when she did, because we had just finished grade school together then she suddenly moved away. The following summer when I was 14 my parents gave me the ok to use all the money I had saved up while working to buy myself a ticket to go see her. While I don't remember as much as I should from the trip I just remember how happy I was that I got to see her again and how amazing it was that I was given the opportunity to travel across the world by myself at such a young age. I was 14 and I got to wander the streets of Hong Kong and Beijing, see the forbidden city, walk the Great Wall, and just overall experience a China that I had never know existed.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy learning anything from anyone no matter where they're from. My travels have taught me that pretty much anyone has something interesting and new to say and it never hurts to listen.
