About Me

Native french guy, engineer living in the 11th area of Paris

For any question about Paris, feel free to send me a message here or on instagram: sof.sis
I live in the 11th area, Parmentier neighborhood, I can guide you around there if you want, as it's the best non-touristic area of Paris, according to me.

If you want to be hosted by me, please read "my home" description before, as I live in a small studio (in paris you have to choose between space or location 😂)

I am a french man, with a multicultural background, born near Dijon (famous for its mustard), engineer and traveler

Always smiling, traveling as much as possible, in love with words and I never refuse a drink (That's the Bukowski's spirit haha :D )

I like sports (playing football, running, working out), socializing, going outside for drinks while keeping most of the time a healthy life-style, meeting people, having fun, reading, listening to music, discovering, learning, and of course traveling.

A few random facts about me: I love mexican, japanese and indian food, my mother is spanish, my father algerian, I love the sun, I love cats because they are evil, I am curious about everything, I love books and writing, I always laugh a lot about everything, I hate people who give me orders, I love polite people, I too often in a week get tipsy or drunk, I love walking, I always try to smile to people in the street, I don't take life and myself too seriously, I often buy extra food for homeless people.

If you have read my home description before sending me a request, mention it in your message, I'll take it into account ! :)

Since I am not a creepy guy offering massages or nudist exhibitions to my guests, I kindly ask creepy people to avoid my profile, there are tons of weirdos in Paris who could please you, don't worry.
Yes, I prefer hosting ladies, because I am simply more comfortable with them, and feeling uncomfortable in my own flat and city are definitely not what I'm looking for on CS.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't like hostels very much, as discussions between travelers there always finish by a contest about who has travelled the most. I am here to meet people when I travel, to meet people when I don't, it's all about human connections. Love, knowledge, friendship, trust are what I look for, more than money or anything else.

Small talks have their charm of course, but if you are a very closed and very very shy person, not able to handle a conversation or share your story, I won't be a good host for you. I love shy people when they try to open themselves and leave their comfort zone. I've hosted a few guests who were never trying to talk, which were some quite uncomfortable experiences.

I definitely love deeper talks, I don't host you just to know "what's up" or we'll get bored quickly.

I want to talk about every topics (life experiences, death, alien, love, happiness, sex, whatever) and understand what is in your mind, who you are, your stories, the lies you've told, your fears, what keeps you up at night, your insecurity, your dreams, the worst / best things you have done in your life, what makes you want to wake up every morning...

I love people with depth, trying to understand a person who was unknown the day before is my favorite thing and that's why I am hosting travelers.

According to me, travel is not about how many stamps you have in your passeport or how many countries you've visited. I prefer meeting people than sightseeing or taking pictures. Moreover, I am allergic to travel guides or trip scheduling, I can of course help you planning your trip but I couldn't travel with people who need to plan everything, let the unexpected becomes the unforgettable is my travelling philosophy ! :)

I am a backpacker and I know that sometimes you are just exhausted and need to sleep. But if you are tired and can't even share some time with your host, you should maybe book a hostel.

I can also help you discovering Paris with a local eye, if you want to see things not written in guides or feel the real and authentic parisian atmosphere.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to music. I prefer french or american rap and all types of electronic music and techno. But I appreciate all kind of music and am open to everything.

I spend too much time watching series, japanese animes and dumb videos.

I also read a lot, especially polars and japanese mangas.

Plus, despite of not having any skill for it, I am writing my 1st novel, it's quite fun and exciting to develop his own ideas in a text, For those who know, It's a little mix between Game of Thrones and Tokyo Ghoul, I can talk about it if you ask :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Visiting all Iceland by car, which was completely inappropriate for such a ride (SKODA Citigo type).
- Walking in a brazilian favela in Rio called "Rocinha", seeing teenagers holding their guns while looking at me and laughing at the same time.
- Seeing my friends being attacked by a crazy guy with a knife in Croatia.
- Backpacking alone in Vietnam, Westcoast of the US, Malaysia, Singapore, Ireland, Ukrain, Turkey and many other countries.
- Deciding to start to write a novel, dark fiction type. Darkness is inspiring and leads us to know ourself deeper.
- While traveling, always giving my remaining coins to homeless people or buying them food, instead of giving them to Mc Donalds or Starbucks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you French and help you visiting Paris.

I can of course give you advices or tips for Paris, France or countries I have already visited.

I am trying to improve my spanish so having some discussions with you (if you are a spanish speaker) could be awesome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My smile, nice talk (i am able to talk about anything)

I usually like to share with my guests some drinks, I like also doing different walks to show you the "real" Paris without tourists everywhere. Please don't ask me to play the tour guide, except if you're interested by the real Paris.
And of course, laughing is, after travelling, the best feeling in life.

Kind of guest I like to host: not shy, talkative, curious, independant during the day and ok with hanging out the evening.
