ABOUT ME

Ok, I´m a 19 year old girl who was raised in Australia by crazy South African parents who fled their motherland to raise children in freedom. While i have enjoyed the benefits of being raised in the privileged Australian society, the wild African blood undeniably runs through my veins and controls my heart.
My heart is solidly set on helping people who are less fortunate than myself. I´m currently undergoing a solo journey around the world so that I can see what there is to see and then assess where and what i can do to help.
I allow myself to dream big because i really believe that i can make those dreams become reality.
I love to laugh and i see a lot of beauty in innocence.

PHILOSOPHY

Oh wow. What a big question. My personal philosophy of the moment is that this world is filled with beauty. As cliched as this may sound, I really think that you can make anything you want become a reality because just as impossible as any task may seem, it is equally as possible.
I also believe that the time is coming for a total re-evaluation of the way we are running our world because the fact are undeniable, we aren´t living sustainably. If we keep living in a materialistic society of greed the end is inevitable.

I´m very new to this couch surfing project and i can only imagine that i would contribute by bringing happiness and good nature to which ever kind soul decides to host me on my journey around the earth.

I´m not one to have many hobbies however i am truly interested and dedicated to knowing people. I am fascinated by the way that the mind ticks and how that ticking can vary from person to person, culture to culture.
I´m totally interested and in awe of nature. I gasp at every mountain range, am stunned by fairy forests and am totally gobsmacked by beaches.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

The best music I´ve ever heard was on Florida av in Buenos Aires. It was a string quartet made up of a father and his 3 sons. It was the most eerily beautiful and encapsulating music I´ve ever heard. I appreciate music that is made up of true talent as opposed to a catchy and repetitive tune although, this can be done very well too.

I love books that invoke my imagination and for this reason Harry Potter will always be near to my heart. I also love The Alchemist and Brave New World and any other book that has taught me a valuable lesson.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I´ve been traveling since i was 6 weeks old. One of my favorite holidays ever was when i was about 9 and my family and i went hitch hiking around Malawi. The most vivid memory i have of this trip was being piled into the back of a cattle van with sheep being flung over the edge of the van to make space for us and our bags while Finley Quay was blasted through the speakers as we roared off into the Sunset, the Baobab trees forming contorted silhouettes on the horizon.
Another memory from this trip was cruising Lake Malawi in a tinny. We stopped our boat to watch elephants cross by walking on the river bed with their trunks reaching above the water. As we were stopped we could see hippos and crocodiles coming up next to our boat, eying us out. When the last elephant had crossed we went to start the boat but, in vain. The engine had died. Not to worry, the guide assured us.. he would fix the boat with the tools that he carried. In some sort of a panic he managed to drop all of his tools into the water. Now, i was sure we were going to die.
Luckily, my mum came to the rescue with her pocket knife. It started the engine and we zipped outta there with not a moment to spare. For this reason, i always travel with my Swiss army knife.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I wish that i had a special skill or gift that i could share with people but aside from being able to contort my thumbs in strange ways i´m not very skilled with practical things however, i have a huge capacity to give happiness and hope and love and light.

Also, I speak English well. As i come into contact with more and more people on my travels they tell me how lucky i am to be able to have english as my first language. This luck coupled with my nurturing personality would make me a great english tutor, i´d imagine.
