ABOUT ME

My life is a blessing with few obligations. It is a wonderful way to be, plugged into the great abundance adventure and chance, living "in spirit" as I like to call it.

PHILOSOPHY

What does it mean to "live in spirit"?

For me this is like a free-trade agreement. Being a spiritual woman, I've made an agreement with the forces that be in service and devotion. This happens via volunteering. Sometimes I get paid, many times I don't - but somehow it works out and I stay safe and fed and joyful, with plenty of free time to pursuit a life of adventure with ample time for spiritual practices.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, my participation is as a humble traveler. I am embarking on a pilgrimage to seek experience, accept charity, be of service, and more! My current journey is going up and down the coast over the course of the next two and a half months. Goal is to be in Portland for Thanksgiving with my twin sister and then wander my way back to AZ to fast in the cave by Winter Solstice.

I gave up most of my posessions (including my beloved cat who is more like a daughter) in order to really get a taste of non-obligation, distance from attachment to my creature comforts - as I begin a great pilgrimage for personal growth.

It wasn't an easy decision to come to. I struggled with it for a while. My life in town became abrasive. Things just weren't clicking. Many challenges appeared and it seemed the deeper I dug, the wetter the mud.

Messages started coming through my psyche with more clarity: Starlyn, it's time to let go. I resisted at first but eventually the synchronized calamities could no longer be chalked up to chance. If nothing else, my subconscious mind was in sabotage mode.

The moment I decided to make this dedication, to let go of the river banks... this is when things started to run smoothly. As if there is a force guiding my every effort.

My interests are in yoga/meditation, climbing trees, listening to the wind, helping others, cooking and eating raw and veggie food, reggae music, devotional chanting, sweat lodge, isolation fasting, writing, drawing, etc.

Would like to expand interests/efforts to include organic gardening, composting, survival training, musical instruments, etc.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Isolation Fasting...

Every 90 days I fast in a cave in the Superstition Mountains of beautiful Arizona. This has been a blessing in my life for 2+ years now. What introspection! What transformation! What a blessing it is to receive such gifts. Gifts that have no material form yet remain with me long past the expiration of a well-loved object.

Truth and False are states of perception. "Fact" is an incomplete idea, rigid. If we look at any subject, there are people on either side with arguments and evidence to support their case. I invite you to consider that the world is a reflection of your mind, as the Dhammapada states. And if we seek to argue passionately, perhaps this is itself evidence that we ourselves need convincing.

Subscribe to your beliefs, they are yours. And be flexible in understanding that others may choose, at their current stage of development, to see things a different way.
