ABOUT ME

I'm currently traveling Europe on a WWOOFing (worldwide opportunities on organic farms) adventure. My life's biggest passions are sustainable agriculture and food systems...and good food, of course. I am very laid back, easy going, and get along with nearly anyone. It doesn't take much to make me happy...I try hard to appreciate every waking moment of my day and take nothing for granted. I'm half Belgian and am an avid beer drinker (I can hold my own with those hearty ales). My life's mantra is never to judge, always to keep an open mind. I love meeting new people and appreciate the cultural exchange that programs like CouchSurfing facilitate. I have an infinite curiosity to learn from others and believe that the wisest person is the one who realizes he knows nothing.

PHILOSOPHY

Whoever or whatever is in front of you is your teacher. When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

Just surfed for the first time in Bordeaux, France and had the BEST experience and the loveliest hosts.

Interesses

Traveling, cooking, gardening, biking, hiking and skiing are among my passions. I'm a farm laborer these days, but was once a banker living in New York City, until I changed direction in my life to follow my passion for food. I love anything and everyting related to good food - growing it, cooking it, and sharing it with friends over a nice bottle of wine.

Indie rolk, folk, bluegrass, reggae and everything in between. Not much of a movie goer. Love to read! Best book I read recently was The Dirty Life about life on the farm.

Currently, I am working on a small organic farm in Ruffec, France that is focused on raising animals. It's been an amazing experience! Just spent the holidays in Costa Rica with my family, seeking out secluded waterfalls an listening to the howler monkeys call out at night. I love all sorts of travel, from secluded wildlife adventures to cultural city excursions.
