Grew up on a farm in a small community in south-western Manitoba, adventured around the world for about three years and have since hung up the backpack to settle in Vancouver (for the past year). My curiousity drives me in pretty much everything I do. My first overseas trip was to Europe (Belgium) for 10 1/2 months, second one was to South Africa for 3 months and third was to Costa Rica for a year. I then lived in northern New Brunswick (integrating back into my homeland of Canada) for a year and have been in Vancouver, BC for a year, digging it.
Fear is temporary, regret is forever.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Socially - it's a way to remain connected to international people while I slow down on running around the world.
Just a couple social events... which means a lot of hungover days!
~traveling (if you haven't figured that one out already...)
~team sports like hockey, baseball, soccer, volleyball for their social nature, strategic fun and bringing out the competitiveness in me every once and a while
~figuring out people from different backgrounds
~eating and sleeping have always ranked up there for me, I am a lover of the sleep and a befriender of the food!
- team sports
- bungee jumping
- rock climbing
Music, Movies, and Books
music: mostly alternative rock, getting into some Indie stuff
movies: Lords of Dogtown, Braveheart, Crash, Slumdog Millionaire, The Life of David Gale, Blood Diamond, The Reader, Hotel Rwanda, Blow, Before Sunrise, After Sunset, epics or those based on true events, documentaries
books: stuff that has to do with unexplained phenomenon, bios
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
my traveling years have been full of enlightment to say the least!
~Jumping from the highest commercial bungee jump in the world (in South Africa) after telling the people that went before me that they were insane... guess it's contagious.
~moving to Costa Rica for a year without knowing any Spanish. Necisite apprendar!
~moving to Belgium to take care of a 7 year old who didn't know any English and me not knowing any Dutch!
~having to evacuate my homestay in my first month in Costa Rica because of a potential tsunami that hit Chile and the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Again, no Spanish.
~snorkeling in the Red Sea, Egypt after climbing Mount Sinai the night before and getting only 2 hrs sleep.
