About Me

Engineering student residing in Sheffield, which is definitely the friendliest city Ive lived in. Just finished second year, specialising in Mechatronics and Robotics, which sounds so cool that I'm not going to describe it in any greater detail here. Also a part time support worker.

Things I like:
Coffee, stout, warm weather, hot baths, People who surprise me, people deliberately pretending to be stupid to be funny, Learning a new skill, finding out an interesting fact from someone else, fixing things with my hands, unusual experiences. New places.

Things I don't like:
Bigotry, The News, Bullies, 'Banter', snapchat, microwave meals,
and all the real evils of the world that don't have a place here

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, let's be honest about this; I need somewhere to stay.

Also:
I like the idea of an epicurean ideal of a household; where the best home is one filled with friends food and good chat. Therefore hosting seems cool.

Likewise if you host me, but Id definitely like to chat/ have dinner/make friends, do interesting stuff.

Also want to find out more about hosting and why people do it. More importantly, why people continue to do it and what they get out of it.
Best way to do that? Meet hosts. Best way to meet hosts? Go to their homes.

Interests

Bouldering, Cooking, Cycling

Started playing piano about a year ago. My piano teacher asked me what did I want to play? I told her Jazz. She said I can teach you classical. I said ok. Its great.

Started meditating about 2 months ago. Buddhists are really nice.

Just got my mams old 70s SLR camera. Currently in the process of finding out what all the buttons, dials and wotsits do so that I can take a photograph.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music (chronologically):
pop, indie, pop-punk, ska-punk, punk, jungle, reggae, rocksteady, hiphop, drum and bass, 60s ska, soul, funk, more ska, jazz, classical piano, rare groove, bossa nova...

Film:
Anything that is good enough to make me want to laugh/ fall in love/ have an adventure/ explore/ fight etc.
Don't like Horror; Films are about escapism, why would I want to escape to an awful place?
Favourite films for different reasons:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Total Recall (the original. Not the remake.)

Books:
Yes! Much!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Haven't done anything AMAZING yet unfortunately, like saving a beached whale or inventing a life-saving drug. Using the word AMAZING to describe my life would be hyperbolic to say the least.

However, people are often rather impressed (or at least bewildered) when I tell them I cycled from England to a music festival in Germany on my own.

Teach, Learn, Share

Jack of all trades, master of none. Im always up for learning new things. Teach me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good chat. Good attitude. Yes to everything. And ill probably bring at least a packet of biscuits, maybe even a bottle of (cheap) wine as a thank you.

Also pretty good at bicycle repairs, so if you catch a flat I can fix it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
