About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a good, long-term job as a pilot.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pilot. I'm a fairly relaxed, laid-back kind of guy. I am a hard worker and have a passion for serving others. I may be kind of shy with new people at first, but as I get to know someone, I will gradually open up a lot. I like to have intelligent conversations about pretty much anything, and I am a good listener who will always be polite and respectful. I get annoyed when people interrupt me, so I try to be courteous and not interrupt others.

PHILOSOPHY

I am an unashamed Christian, but I am a human, so I will never claim to be perfect or have all the right answers. I will always treat people with love and compassion, as Christ would, and I believe in honesty, loyalty, and personal integrity. I respect every person's right to his/her own religious/philosophical/political opinions. I am always interested in discussing world views with other people, learning more about how our backgrounds have shaped us into who we are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to this. But I've heard good things about it. That's about it

Interests

-Flying. Being free of the Earth's bounds is an amazing feeling every time I go up.
-U.S. and World History (I am a pretty serious WW2 buff, and I love to actually visit places where significant things happened).
-Geography. I love maps, and I have a crazy photographic memory when it comes to countries/capitals/states/etc. Some of my friends who have experienced this say I have no life, but I say I just really like maps! Whenever I have kids, they will NOT be among the huge number of people who can't locate their own nation on a map/globe.
-Some sci-fi (I'm a bit of a nerd)
-Spending quality time with good friends.
-Craft/Microbrew Beers. I don't get drunk. Quality time enjoying quality brews is much more enjoyable when you can remember what happened/what you talked about.
-Nature.
-Coffee.
-Drumming.
-I really love skiing, but it's been a while. I would like to live someplace where I can ski more often

Music, Movies, and Books

-Lord of the Rings (as I said, I'm a bit of a nerd)
-Star Wars (the originals, not the prequels :P)
-The Bourne trilogy
-Taken
-The Dark Knight Trilogy
-Inception
-Airplane! (a classic)
-The Bible
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-The Hobbit (and I am eagerly anticipating the movie)
-Any historical fiction or nonfiction

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Touring the Colosseum (Coliseum? Coloseum? Whatevs...) in Rome was pretty breathtaking.
-My first solo airplane flight. Just an amazing feeling.
-National Parks: The Grand Canyon, Yosemite, King's Canyon/Sequoia...the natural beauty in our world is just astounding.

Teach, Learn, Share

-I am always looking to expand my knowledge in aviation.
-I enjoy challenging myself to get better as a drummer, and teaching others if I can.
-If you can't read a map or can't navigate your way around a place, come to me for help. Seriously, geography is a dying subject, and I die a little inside every time I hear someone say, "I can't read a map" or "I don't know what the 7 continents are" or "isn't New York the capital of America?" or something else along those lines.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Italy, Monaco, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
