Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

To add value to people's lives.

ABOUT ME

I am a current PhD student in sociology and focus on social movements.

PHILOSOPHY

I like the philosophy from Viktor Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning." In it, he says try imagine that you're living your life for a second time. How would you act then? Say the things that you wouldn't normally say, or are afraid to say. Tell people around you (e.g., family) that you love them and not be ashamed of it, or remain silent about it. Have the difficult conversations that people spend their whole lives avoiding.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in surfing and am open to hosting in my new apartment this coming fall.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I once couchsurfed in New Haven, CT and had a positive experience. And a friend of mine did a research project about couchsurfing and interviewed me for it. I told him about my backpacking experience in Southeast Asia---wish I had known about CS then!

Interessi

I enjoy playing basketball, drums, and writing and recording rock/pop songs on guitar. I like to travel, especially internationally. The last time I was out of the country was in 2006 when I lived in South Korea for a year. At that time, I backpacked around Southeast Asia for a month and visited Indonesia as well.

Musica, film e libri

The Smiths, The Smoking Popes, anything by Coltrane, Miles Davis, Pavement, Elis Regina.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I survived a night in the Taman Negara rainforest. Definitely the scariest night of my life, but I grew a lot from that experience. It truly was like listening to a "nocturnal symphony."

Insegna, impara, condividi

I studied improvisational comedy for awhile at The Second City in Chicago. I also know a fair amount about jazz music.

Paesi che ho visitato

Cambodia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam
