About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take a walk in every pair of shoes that I can possibly get my feet into...

ABOUT ME

I'm not very good at this part...

When you first meet me, you might think that I'm rather serious. I keep a clown nose in my pocket. You might find me wearing it from time to time, even though I probably won't acknowledge the fact that it's on my face.

My sense of humour is random and sometimes extremely dry.

I get very excited when I can discuss a topic about which I am very passionate. Sometimes this is frightening... it's because I'm extremely open and tend not to hold anything back. If I start talking and can't seem to stop, splash some water on me... that usually works.

PHILOSOPHY

Existentialism is a bit too circular in my opinion... but fairly valid...

I tend to feel that life has value, not meaning. A lot of horrible, senseless things happen in the world, enough to defy meaning in most cases...

So what about all the good in the world? I think it adds value. I like to make a distinction, because I think that emotional and spiritual value is different from meaning.

You can find meaning in a book or a mountain stream.

Value is what exists between people, because we don't make as much sense as our natural environment.

Life is beautiful, because everything is impermanent. Cherish it. Laugh as much as you can. Stop letting petty issues break you into pieces... and just before you start complaining, think about someone who might not be as lucky as you are right in this second, someone whose only dream in life might be getting enough to eat the next day, or finding a pair of shoes...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm a musician... so that means I can sit down with someone I barely know and share an extremely close emotional relationship without ever saying a word... except for the ones I pass along through my instrument.

I've seen the sun rise and set a few times.

I've eaten chocolate cake while taking a bath.

Amazing things happen every day.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sometimes I feel like it's better to listen... and I like to do more of that than anything else.

But what can I share?

Take your hands... and turn your palms up. Do this the next time you meet a stranger or start talking to someone with whom you've had some kind of disagreement or struggle.

We often turn our palms out to people we know very well, particularly when handing them objects or motioning to them.

I encourage you to turn your palms out in a comfortable, subtle way the next time you speak to someone with whom you may not be very comfortable speaking.

This will make you somewhat vulnerable... because you have exposed the undersides of your wrists, and generally we tend to feel less comfortable when our palms face upward. The idea is, that you make yourself step outside your comfort-zone with your own body language.

What else?

Well...I want to know more about the world, because I know too little.

I want to learn everything... but sometimes the best lessons are the ones we don't necessarily set out to learn in the beginning.

I don't know how to dance... or ski... and I'm not a very good singer just yet.
