About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm cheating here. Recently had to write an essay describing myself so I'm milking the effort.

I have hunger; a ravenous, voracious, inspiring hunger. But hunger, like hope, like love, can be a relentless nag when she is unfulfilled. The pursuit of her content propels me through an endless tasting of life’s fare and although insatiable, she has proven herself a reliable companion. Too often, the socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic ingredients available dictate the recipe of ones life. But, if being raised a latchkey kid taught me many lessons in creativity, there is one that seems to maintain an enduring gravity. “If you are hungry enough, you will find something tasty to eat.”
I was raised among the disparate intentions of people from every crevasse of the world. Each of them invited to bring all of their differences to one stage for display. No museum is more diverse, nor any encyclopedia more complete in capturing the uniqueness of each of these ingredients that combine to form the delicacy that is New York City. Growing up bi-racial, poly-ethnic, and multi-lingual in this microcosm of the world destroyed for me the concept of limitation. Instead, it only diversified my interests and sparked a curiosity that hungers to relate with every kind of person by questioning, investigating, and discussing.
I am armed by words. The way I imagine a painter bleeds color, or a musician lives in melody. I feel the power in words and I’m grateful for the agility to access it.
I think quickly, straddling extroversion and introspection, and I am able to vividly articulate concepts and ideas. Equally as important, I know when not to say anything. The ability to clearly and freely express emotion is at the heart of all relationships. However, while the employment of compassion and empathy act as accelerants to their construction, it’s objectivity and democracy that will support their maintenance. One must listen. These are my greatest gifts. They are, however, gifts that carry a great deal of responsibility and patience. The commitment to “put your-self into someone else’s shoes” can be difficult, like a child trying to cross a room in their fathers loafers. I am forever learning.
I grew up poor of material wealth but rich in emotional equity. This often meant working harder or longer than others to achieve my goals but that I always had a plentiful amount of encouragement to know I could do so. Working to put myself through university, often simultaneously, felt like taking on two added course loads each semester. Supporting both parents, one then the other, through the infancy of my adult career felt like paddling upstream. But something amazing happens each time you triumph. You accumulate courage.
I have the courage to challenge normalcy and to be an innovator of creative solution. I have the confidence to maintain the humility of knowing there are many things I don’t know that others are yearning to teach me. I have an ambition that can foresee failure, but invites it knowing it’s only the appetizer to success. I overflow with passion because I feel deeply the passion of others. This is my bedrock that does not fear the seasons of volatility inherent in life. It has made me a person of action with a decided heart. I will triumph.

Interests

I'm fit, love to be outdoors but cool staying in an chilling. There isn't much I can't find interest in and I love to learn about things with which I'm not familiar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that's good material for introductory conversation.
