About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have a real European backpacking experience on the 3 weeks I have off work for vacation

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Steve, I grew up in a city called Windsor, right at the Southern tip of Canada. I studied maths at a university called the University of Waterloo. While I was at Waterloo I had a great experience doing a lot of extra activities including planning frosh week and being a residence don. I had always planned to go on an awesome European Backpacking trip after I finished school, but when reality hit, money was tight and I had to get a job. Now I've got my 3 weeks of vacation a year to do it in, and I'm headed to England and Ireland this summer.

This June and July (June 23rd to July 13th) my friend and I are going to be visiting England and Ireland.
My travel partner Dillon and I are probably two of the most easy going people you will ever meet. We are planning to travel around just taking it one day at a time and doing whatever seems fun and interesting. We have our plane tickets, and we haven't planned any itinerary but we have a few things we'd like to do while in Ireland. We want to kiss the Blarney Stone, visit the Guinness Brewery, visit Galway and a little town called Nenagh where my ancestors are from. We have a couple of friends of friends in Cork and Clonmel, so we also plan to visit those cities.

Dillon and I are hoping that some of you Irish folks will be willing to lend us a couch on somewhat short notice and show us around. We are very flexible and we can probably swing it so we drop by on a date that works for you.

See you in a few weeks!

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you love to do and do it well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have wanted to turn my house into a couch surfing destination, but I live with five other roommates and a few of them were not up for it. Right now I participate through donations, but when I get my own place in a few years I will have a couch available.

Interests

I love helping youth, whether its spending time and playing sports and other activities with kids or helping them with school. In Toronto I belong to an organization called Youth Assisting Youth that helps children who don't have some of the same advantages as regular kids.

I also like finance and investing and reading good books (although I don't have a good track record of finishing books). Every once and a while I'll get on a good workout streak at the gym, it hasn't happened recently though.
