About Me

PHILOSOPHY

I attempt to live my life following the example and teaching of Jesus. I know the stigma "Christian" automatically carries (deservedly so) but I believe that faith in Jesus, genuinely and simply lived, leads a person into a life of truth, compassion, generosity, servant hood and selflessness motivated and characterized by the love that Jesus exemplified.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list. For movies it's everything from dumb humor to intense drama, almost everything except for horror. Music, I'm all over the place. If the musicianship is quality and the lyrics don't cause me to facepalm, I'll probably enjoy it. Books, I read a lot but mostly non-fiction and dealing with theology. Every once and a while I'll read a fiction novel, mostly classics. One of my favorite books is A Tale of Two Cities.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a couple weeks in Malaysia with a group of college students on a ministry trip. The region was a melting pot of ethnicity and beliefs. The greatest part was the privilege we had to share life with refugees in a camp from Afghanistan, spending time with some amazing kids and ultimately coming to an even greater realization that "us" and "them" are a myth bred of pride and prejudice. One person is no less deserving of respect, love, and the opportunity to realize their potential than another just because of where they were born. One of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. Keeping in touch with some of the people I met continues to remind me how limited my idea of community used to be, and how much greater life is lived globally minded.
