complete my dissertation!
I am a slow traveler.
I hate the 1 week country-tour approach, I am in favor of the 6 months 1 city approach. I love to slowly learn my way around a new city, learn the language, acquire new friends. A new city is like a small new life.
I have lived between Florence, Bolgheri, Milan, Bologna, San Michele on the Garda Lake, Chicago, New York, New Haven, Rio De Janeiro and now (2008-2009) I am traveling back in Brazil.
I lived in Rio for six months, and now I am going to travel around Brazil for a year or so to complete my dissertation.
I just got married this past summer and I have a little dog Safira that comes from a shelter in Rio.
I currently don't have an house (I have just closed my apartment in New York), but during the summer I always fly back to Italy and there I can host you in a very nice place in the center of Florence. I have a bathroom with a view (you can see the dome of my city).
I tend to invite people all the time, and I love meeting new friends in any situation. I met my wife on a train to Rome 8 years ago.
I can sleep practically on any surface. I need only two things an internet connection and a shower.
I am in love with life. I love studying life and living it.
If Irma (my wife) is with me and I have money for an internet connection, a shower and organizing dinners for my friends I don't need anything else.
On the other hand I highly enjoy all comforts when they are available!

Music, Movies, and Books
I am completely ignorant with regard music, I tend to steal whatever my friend are listening. I can't even fake to know anything about music so don't expect I will be able to sustain a conversation about it.
Movies... I grew up with a friend that had a free pass in my city movie theaters, we spent the week-ends watching one movie after the other. With regard movies I can freely pass from Blow Up to Kickboxer, enjoying both.
Books... my preferred book is L'oeuvre au noir, I have read it in the Italian translation when I was 16, and I tend to reread every now and then. I also love science fiction, in particular Lem and Le Guin. And I consume poetry daily.
