About Me

to understand life in this lifetime (right?). Observation of that which is.

I'm a 64 year old male. A swimmer. Very interested in life and a better understanding of its meaning and having a good one with the life I have. Life is good. I'm a happy positive person. I'm tall - 6'5" and big (mostly strong). Don't fit in small spaces very well, though my past life as a yoga instructor helps.

Live life daily. Be kind to others. Know that we all live in the same world, share the same resources. Take life as it comes. Help others as you can, and try to find the right space at the right time (be here now). Be present. Understand others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually love doing dishes and cleaning kitchens. Hum? Not many males say that, but it is true. Like to leave a space looking nice. I'm very conscious of the surroundings in which I'm in. Very considerate of other people and a good conversationalist (usually).

None yet. Going on a trip to Israel for 6 weeks, thought I would give it a try.

I like to walk, swim and play. I'm interested in things about life and the world. I read a lot. I'm a teacher and practitioner of Chinese Medicine and Naturopathic medicine. I've been in practice for 40 years.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read many books on many subjects, but seems mostly to be of historical lives these days. I also like Karl Hassin. I've read many authors and most of their works in the ones that like. I read about 5 books a month. I travel all over the world since I was young.

As I get older, I guess I like the stillness that a book brings over most other forms of entertainment. Stillness and quiet are good things. Conversation and friends are even better. But being in quiet settings are a blessing.

I love nature. The picture I have of myself, is a recent trip to Big Bend, Texas where I was for two weeks. Very quiet, maybe too much, but was good. I see most of life as distractions of Maya, and appreciate that which has depth and meaning. Guess, that really says I'm not much of a party blaster, though i can occasionally.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have seen is this planet and the wonder that it is. Life and how it is always reaching to stay alive. The quest to still go on. The clinging to life from every rock, tree, person or animal. It is precious. I'm always amazed.

What I've done that is amazing is the coordination of people to establish institutes of learning natural medicine. I don't see this as myself doing as much as I see it as a collection of gathering others to work together for the common good of what we believe in. I believe in people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught Chinese Medicine for over 30 years. I think teaching is a real skill. But that is really a profession, and not what is being asked for here. I think learning is something that I want to do till I did. I often wonder what I can teach others in many ways (outside my profession), but my friends say I have a lot to teach in who I am. I'm always in wonder by other people, and the skills that most people have.
