About Me

I'd like to visit Japan and climb Mt Fuji, or go back to Thailand/Vietnam for a motorbike tour.

Currently working in Brisbane, but originally from Melbourne. I have been fortunate to have traveled through 44 countries. Currently doing renovations on my house, although most of the hard stuff is completed. I can dance salsa, merengue, cha cha and can teach you to dance, and I like a game of pool/snooker, and bike ride on weekends, and I can make tasty homemade beer.

Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Spare bed in a house 2.5km from the city centre of Brisbane for a short stay (usually 2 but sometimes 3 nights for 1 guest only). NON SMOKERS.

Hosted lots of people, and was a guest several times in Vietnam.

I like to see the local sights and meet local people, how locals live, what they like to do, eat, drink, get up to some adventure, take some pics, jump on a moped (scooter) and explore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch a ride on a container ship from Melbourne to Wellington. Bushwalked through some NZ national parks. Hitched around NZ, across North America including 35 US states and 6 Canadian provinces. Hitched a ride to Prudhoe Bay inside the Arctic circle in Alaska. Played pool with a Florida gangster (he had a scar from a bullet wound in his chest) who was hiding out in Toc Junction , Alaska . Two week hitch with a cowboy in his Ford F250 from Alaska to Colorado who kept having flashbacks to a time when he rolled a car and killed two family members. He fell asleep again while driving through Nevada (luckily I woke him up). Wild dogs attacked my tent, with me inside, in Utah. Hitch a ride on a private lear jet in the U.S. Hitched a ride up the New Jersey turnpike into New York in a Mercedes convertible. Was mugged in Times Square, NYC. Hitched around Europe for 6 months and then drove around Europe for a year in a old Peugeot 305. Crashed a new 600cc motorbike into a car in central London (flew over the handle bars). Parachuted from a old Russian AN-2 biplane in the Czech Republic, and also taken up in a glider, and also paraglided. Attacked by a drunk near Bratislava who had recently been released from the local jail. Smashed his head into the tiles, knocking him unconscious. Overstayed my Czech visa and got caught walking around the international border on foot into Austria. Escaped in my car from Switzerland with a wheel clamp from the parking police in Zermatt. (Swiss make good watches but bad wheel clamps!). Ran with the bulls in Pamplona. Traveled overland from London to Indonesia. Was arrested by the religious police in Iran. Holed up in Quetta to recover from Giardia from bad water in Balukistan, Pakistan. Hitched a ride on top of a overloaded truck up the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan. Fired off a clip from a AK47 in Darra, Pakistan. Slept in my tent between crevasses on a glacier while trying to see K2 in the Pakistani Himalayas. Watched bodies float down the Ganges, and viewed open air cremations in Varanasi, India. After stopping my motorbike for a rest in Sumbawa, Indonesia while sweating from malaria, I was invited to sit with the groom at a Muslim wedding. Traveled overland from Lima to Santiago. Visited Machu Pichu, Cusco, Salar De Uyuni, Atacama desert, went fishing for piranha, and catching anaconda in the Bolivian Amazonas. Recently traveled around Vietnam for 7 weeks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know the city well, and can advise on the best places to visit. I can teach you to dance salsa, and play pool/snooker and can take you for a bike tour around Melbourne..
