About Me

I'd like to visit Japan, Taiwan and maybe Shanghai also

I work in IT in Melbourne, but I have fortunate to have traveled a lot. Currently doing renovations on my house, although most of the hard stuff is completed. I can dance salsa, merengue, cha cha and can teach you to dance, and I like a game of pool/snooker, and bike ride on weekends, and I can make tasty homemade beer.

Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a three bedroom house just 2.5km from the city centre of Melbourne. I can offer a spare room and queen size bed in my house for a short stay (usually 2 but sometimes 3 nights for 1 guest only). NON SMOKERS. Also have a spare bicycle for you to use if you like to explore by bike, and even a skate board you can borrow.

Havent tried it yet, but plan to. Would like to go to Japan and Taiwan next.

I am fortunate to have travelled through 44 countries so far. I like to see the local sights and meet local people, how locals live, what they like to do, get up to some adventure, take some pics, jump on a moped (scooter) and explore.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz, Blues, Funk, Rock, Dub, Reggae, Latin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch a ride on a container ship from Melbourne to Wellington. Hitched around NZ, across North America including 35 US states and 6 Canadian provinces. Hitched a ride to Prudhoe Bay inside the Arctic circle in Alaska. Played pool with a Florida gangster who was hiding out in Toc Junction , Alaska. Hitch a ride on a private lear jet in the U.S. Hitched a ride up the New Jersey turnpike into New York in a Mercedes convertible. Was mugged in NYC. Hitched around Europe for 6 months and then drove around Europe for a year in a old Peugeot 305. Crashed a motorbike in central London. Parachuted from a old Russian AN-2 biplane in the Czech Republic, and also taken up in a glider, and paraglided. Attacked by a drunk near Bratislava who had recently been released from the local jail. Escaped in my car from Switzerland with a wheel clamp from the parking police in Zermatt. Ran with the bulls in Pamplona. Travelled overland from London to Indonesia. Was arrested by the religious police in Iran. Hitched a ride on top of a overloaded truck up the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan. Slept in my tent on a glacier between crevasses while trying to see K2 in the Pakistani Himalayas. Watched bodies float down the Ganges, and viewed open air cremations in Varanasi, India. After stopping my motorbike for a rest, I was invited to sit with the groom at a Muslim wedding in Sumbawa, Indonesia. Travelled overland from Lima to Santiago. Visited Machu Pichu, Cusco, Salar De Uyuni. Recovered from Malaria that I got in Bolivia.

Teach, Learn, Share
