About Me

Travel, Share & Give Back to the World! - 7 Continents in under $10,000

Jan 2014 UPDATE!! So I have some exciting news, after a 6 month competition, I have just found out that I won the "worlds best job" & will be traveling the world for the next 12 months, up to 50 destinations, sharing my experience the entire way!! Looking to get as many people as possible involved, so please get in touch with me :) More info on blog!!

The Naked Traveller

Hey guys my name is Tyson & I am a 26 year old Australian on a mission to see the world!!

Leaving Australia back in 2009 with nothing but a backpack, no real plan, or money & definitely not a job (anymore) I have been on a mission ever since leaving to see and do as much of this world as I can!!

Always up for a good time and pretty much game for anything. I like to volunteer most places I visit & I also carry with me water filters for an organisation called RainCatcher that I can install into schools or villages affected by contaminated water.

I have been couchsurfing since leaving Australia back in 2009 & have witnessed & enjoyed every CS experience you could think of & definitely looking for more!

Swear by Couchsurfing while travelling.. Definitely has changed the way I travel & now live my life!

I have a Travel Blog that I share my travels & any other pieces of advice on how I have travelled for this long at The Naked Traveller - check it out if you get a chance & hit me up!

2013 UPDATE - Just arrived back from Central America (8 weeks, 8 countries, under $2000), Haiti & Canada & am now on the way back to LA to unpack my bags for longer then a few weeks in the first time in 4 years. Not sure where I will settle so hoping to surf a few different areas to get a feel.

Looking to continue volunteering while in LA, so please if anyone has any good recommendations please let me know :) (During my travels I carry with me water filters for a charity which provides clean drinking water to areas affected by dirty or contaminated water) More info can be found at Raincatcher.org/tyson

Live your life.. As long as you respect others.. do what makes you happy every day!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Surf, Host, Travel, Volunteer, Party, Eat & Share Advice...

Even if i'm not back in Oz let me know, have many close friends and family all over that would love to help out!

My Dads Farm that I grew up on is also where you can see some real authentic Aussie bush! Everything from Kangaroo's, wild Horses, Eagles, Goannas, Platypus and Snakes

Also have CS buddies around the world happy to help out so always feel free to ask any questions : )

I have had basically every couchsurfing experience you can imagaine...

Surfing literally hundreds of couches around the world in all different circumstances... we have seen & stayed in it all from Hollywood & sports star's houses in California, to dirt floors in African orphanages. Was locked in a crazy guys attic once in Amsterdam or the time I ended up surfing a luxury Yacht down the coast of Brazil. Lots of awesome stories i'd love to share!

Also a lot of Volunteer Projects I have linked up through Couchsurfing!

I just finished 1 month in Uganda installing water filters & through Couchsurfing I was able to link up with local orphanages that I was able to help install filters & spend Christmas at.

Pretty much every travel experience you can think of... ALL through Couchsurfing.... and looking for more!

Raised on a farm in outback Australia, Grew up on the beach in Queensland.. never left my city let alone been on a plane before this trip so keen to see & do it all!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly too many to list.. Taking a look back at the person I was before leaving on this trip & the experiences I have been through since, the things I have seen & the people I have met... Probably wouldnt even recognise the old me!

Installing water filters through Uganda & spending Christmas at an orphanage.

Volunteering over Christmas in a small Quechuan community 5,200m high in the Peruvian Andes.

Volcano Boarding in Nicaragua (surfing down a volcano)

The Lost City Trek in Colombia & Machu Picchu in Peru

Swimming with Pink Dolphins in the Amazon

Finding Bonito in Brazil - Still one of the best & most unknown places I have been to!

Carnaval in Brazil, Bulls missing me by inche's in Pamplona, Dre & Snoop at Coachella... The multiple guns & Machettes pulled on us in everywhere...

Cinque Terre in Italy, our high speed camel-police chase at the Egyptian pyramids...

Teach, Learn, Share

As above.... Down for the experience! Love to teach the Aussie way & open & try to learn everything!
