About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the most of NOW!

ABOUT ME

Traveling is one of my big passions. The places I go to are usually where friends and/or family live. Because they also keep moving around, I get to see new countries and cultures from a local (or expat) perspective. I'm generally a high-speed tourist, trying to cram in as much action as possible. If the trip is 2 weeks or longer I do need a day or so to rest.

This year I started in Goa, India as part of our NY alphabet tradition. We started it in 2000 with Albuquerque, then Berlin, Catalunya, Den Haag, Edinburgh and Fortaleza. At the end of this year we'll (my brother and I) celebrate xmas in Albuquerque, spend a few days in Mexico City and celebrate NY in Havana, Cuba. Our I is probably gonna be Istanbul next year. Last summer I did a European trip to Barcelona, Rome, Vatican, Pizzighettone, Milano, Vienna and Melk. That was great, I got to meet up with a lot of old friends and met a few new ones.

I can go on and on and on, but I'll leave it until you meet me IRL!

PHILOSOPHY

Make the most of NOW! I like people who are honest, genuine and have something to say for themselves. I am quite tolerant, but if you do get on my wrong side you better run hahaha! >:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, if I am at home you're welcome to stay. I have two big air mattresses and two spare rooms. I do work and have other obligations a lot, but I love to show tourists/travellers around London when I have the time and opportunity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

From early on I've been couch surfing a lot, but only at people I already knew. Last summer I've been travelling Europe for two weeks and only spend 3 nights in a hotel in Rome becaus my friends there didn't have enough space for all of us. In Pizzighettone we were offered a whole appartment!

Interests

Music (and lots of it), traveling, 'world cultures, religion, politics and business', food and cooking, writing, reading, martial arts, all boarding sports, technology, swimming, shooting, some arts, architecture, history, photography and much more. Shall I just give you the ISBN for my auto-biography for when it comes out in 30 years haha!

Music, Movies, and Books

#1 movie (we call them films over here) is Lola Rennt or Run Lola Run in English. I like music films (like La Bamba, Mambo Kings) but also mobster films (such as Goodfellas and Scarface).

Music stretches from Hardcore Punk to Bach so there's a lot. Live music is the best.

Books I don't really read that much. The last book was JS Mill's On Liberty, a 1850's British political theory on libertarianism. I read newspapers and weeklies much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Life on this planet is pretty amazing.

Just a selection of great things I can think of off the top of my head;

-Tearing down the wall in Berlin, January 1990
-Getting stuck in downtown LA well after midnight without money or a way back to the hotel. 1999
-Moonlight tour of Iguacu Falls, Argentina 2004
-Glastonbury festival of contemporary art 2003
-4th of July fireworks on the East River NY 1997
-Christmas in Albuquerque 1999 (and 2006)
-all my NY's from 2000
-flying to the US Sept 18th 2001
-winning big time in Vegas 2002

and so much more!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I've been living in London for 6+ years so I know about 1% of this town. If for some strange reason you want to learn Dutch I speak that. I pretend I know something about everything, so come and test it hahaha! If you speak Spanish that'd be nice, because my Spanish has been lingering on for 8+ years. Anything else that fits in the above categories I'm likely to want to know more about, but maybe you can tickle my interest-bone for something completely different.
