Always seeking the next adventure. Wearer of many hats, did the marriage, kids, house in the burbs thing, now it is my time. I am University Educated. Non-smoker. who has endless energy & is always seeking out new experiences and views!. I've worked with kids, with politicians, with contractors & they are all pretty much the same. I am open minded, yet rational. Started a grass roots non profit once. When I am not working, I am traveling. Or hanging out with my friends or my puppies. I am a member of the SCA (society for creative anachronism) although I don't really game. I love the history, the costume making & the friendships. I love Pittsburgh & it has many very cool things to see, but every winter, I head south of the border! (or just south! )

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first thoughts when traveling are always about budget. But I have noticed a trend over the past twenty years....that meeting people is what I remember most, more than the physical place I travel to visit....two examples ..... New Orleans, Switzerland..... conversations, lead to a complete afternoon, two of the women we had lunch together & just shared life experiences for several hours.. These stories, these human stories that we shared will stay with me longer than the Castles or the Voodoo history (although I loved those things too!)

Interests

My interests are vast. If it is healthy, legal, thought provoking, then I am interested in knowing more. I enjoy traveling of course. I am learning combat archery currently. I like to dig in the earth & watch things grow. I sew medieval dresses for kicks. I love food, exotic, home cooking, regional cooking. I am a stage hand part time, so I love to build things. I also have a ba in studio arts, so art is a big part of my life. Love catching art exhibits, music shows, theater productions etc. Local artists/musicians hold a special place in my heart.

My music tastes are so varied. Rock, Metal, Country,Pop,Classical, Indie, adult alternative...
My favorite book ever is Women Who Run with Wolves. Clarissa Pinkola Estes Phd. All women should read it.

Movies are not my primary focus, although I did see Mad Max Fury Road twice recently. lol...If someone invites me to a movie. I go...but I'm not an expert.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sent 7,000 packages to the troops stationed in the middle east..not because I am a patriot, but rather because I am a mother and I was consumed with worry and by doing that (getting super busy in a non profit)... I avoided myself & my emotions for almost two years until it was safe for me to breath again. (it was a great coping mechanism, see BA in psychology above) I am not at all political, or interested in Political debates. I did what I did out of personal need. I have often joked it was pure selfishness. lol. Oh & I ran a marathon in 2008.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to sew. Can whip out a medieval dress in two days . I speak a fair bit of French. I know how to use any power tool known to mankind & fact I am proud to know how to use them safely. I have built many theater stages, mechanical sculptures, all kinds of odd & cool things. Putting things together is my specialty. I know a whole lot about growing things. Oh and I can cook like an old Hunky woman..(this is a Pittsburgh expression!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

All the skills above plus a whole bunch of interesting life stories. My life has been a series of fortunate and exciting events! I can also cook and prepare some of the best old school American Hungarian, German, Irish foods known on this planet. It is like having Pittsburgh travel to you.
