About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To love. To learn about this world and the wonderful people, animals, and plants I share it with.

ABOUT ME

I am passionate about healthy living! I am a happy vegan who ADORES cooking new vegan recipes and creating recipes of my own. I value optimism and freedom. I love adventuring, meeting new people, and pretty much anything outdoors.

I am passionate about cultivating excitement; allowing yourself to break free of societal expectations and discover what makes you excited - what makes your eyes light up and your body dance with anticipation. In this moment I am excited about meeting you! I’d like to learn about the passions and excitements of people who I have never imagined. I’d like to travel, appreciate this earth and explore what it has to offer. I am passionate about artistic expression of all sorts and wish to support myself and others in their artistic endeavors.

The long story:

In December of 2012, I graduated from UCF with my Master's in Business Administration. I had previously graduated from UCF with my Bachelor's in Accounting. Upon graduation I started working for a truly wonderful software company assisting with accounting and human resources. In addition, I had an outstanding offer with a major accounting firm to work as an auditor. Although I have been very successful with my endeavors in the realms of both my education and career, for several years I have been struggling to make sense of my feelings about success, happiness, and conventional societal values. With some very intense soul searching and the support of the beautiful people around me, in March of 2013 I came to the acceptance that the lifestyle of working an office job and all of the things that go along was not providing me with a healthy environment to cultivate happiness in.

After shining light on and giving credibility to the feelings I've been holding in for all these years I finally feel some clarity and understanding about what I really want my life to be about! I can't tell you how incredible it feels! OH FREEDOM!

In light of the realizations that I have come to (and am still working on), I respectfully resigned from my accounting position at the software company and I also declined my outstanding offer to enter the public accounting profession. I am now very excited about starting a new phase of this miraculous thing we call life.

In April of 2013, I completed my first ever traveling adventure! My boyfriend, Chad, and I went on a 7 day, self-supported, bike tour from the Everglades to Key West, Florida. We slept in our tent and rode around exploring each key and making friends everywhere we stopped. The people we met were so kind, hospitable and inspiring. It is on this trip that we were referred to Couch Surfers. This small taste of travel has sparked in a fire in me and strengthened my confidence in the direction I'm moving in.

So here I am now, excited and eager to continue to explore and appreciate this world. I am grateful that there is a community like Couch Surfers that supports all people who desire to do the same!

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy, which is in perpetual development, is to live happily and optimistically. For me this means being free to choose, loving those around me and the earth, and being open to ideas and experiences.

I am also heavily driven by logic and reason. This runs so deep that it will forever be part of me. I believe this contributes to my industriousness, attention to detail and organization.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in couch surfing and I may be able to host. My ability to host depends on whether or not I'm traveling or stationary.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experiences thus far have been great. Because generally when I travel it's sort of on-the-fly and I often don't have access to internet, I find myself meeting people in person, who also participate in CS. On my next trip I would love to plan out a route and set up some awesome CS dates.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all music! I generally go for hilarious movies. Really thought provoking movies are suitable too :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently stayed on an outdoor cooperative living ranch. It was incredible. I had the pleasure to meet people from all walks of life. Some who regularly stayed at the ranch over the winter, some who had lived there for years, some who had just stumbled upon it on their walk across the world. I experienced this on my first ever traveling adventure... and I am so excited to continue traveling and learning!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share vegan recipes and cooking techniques.

I would also love to learn even more about nutrition, vegan and raw food preparation.
