ABOUT ME

The best way for me to describe myself is that I am a nice, quiet hermit. I am welcoming to anyone and everyone I meet - but when left to my own devices I generally end up doing solitary things like jogging, reading, cooking or people watching.

However for CS purposes, I generally travel with my partner (Nicholas). When traveling we do everything we can in the morning/during the day. And then we go to sleep rather early (11:00ish). Occasionally, we might venture out at night - but that is a rare and short lived experience! To be honest, we are simple quiet people. We enjoy seeing history first hand and travel is the way to do it!

Interests

In times when I am required to work and be the quintessential "productive citizen" I love reading classic lit, researching the next travel opportunity, and training for the next running events and/or triathlon.

When I am rebelling against being the "productive citizen" I enjoy traveling. At the moment I prefer traveling in poorer countries - many of the historical sites in poorer countries are still being uncovered so when I see them - it feels like I am the one discovering it for the first time. I can't get that feeling when I visit a developed country where everything is labeled and roped off as though it was in a museum.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classic Novels! Jane Eyre, Robinson Crusoe, A Tale of Two Cities.... My personal goal is to read at least one classic novel by every major author before I die...

Movies... Lord of the Rings... I am slightly obsessed and yes-I read the books too. I like good movies and hate the average pop-fiction that is normally shown in theaters. If I see another sequel of a bad movie I may vomit. I like many indi flicks, most everything with Bill Murray.

Music... hmmmm ok.. i admit it, I really don't care. I know, I know... i may be hanged and gutted for saying it - but I really don't care. And to make matters worse, I am currently listening to country music on the radio in my car.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. That was amazing - words won't do it justice, you just have to hike it. (Shameless plug: SasTravelPeru.com -great operating company - you won't regret going with them.)
