About Me

I'm a 24 year old recent college graduate with more degrees than she knows what to do with and not a perfect idea of what she wants to do.
In a perfect world, I would love to tap dance professionally. Unfortunately this isn't a perfect world and the smaller gigs that I would love to take do not pay enough to support me without additional help. I'm currently pursuing something that I have recently found out that I really enjoy until I am financially stable enough to pursue dance.
I recently discovered that I love lighting, primarily with concerts and am wanting to attempt to become a roadie with one of the larger companies. I'm currently pursuing a career to tour with musicians in either lighting or rigging while also doing local work during nontouring times. I'm not there yet but working towards it.
I'm a huge nerd, extremely blunt, and very social. My idea of a good time consists of good beer, lot of laughs, and new friends.
I do not smoke, do drugs, or party and I hardly drink outside of a little bit of good beer and occasional good Irish whiskey.
I'm very known for making decisions that some people view as adventurous but to me they just seem necessary and fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and make new friends. I also am extremely young, love to travel, and on a budget. I tend to travel to further myself most of the time, with the occasional mind-clearing adventure in the midst. I've discovered, in my own adventures, that when I'm staying with somebody new and outside of my circle that I tend to have a more enjoyable time and experience new things and that just sounds fantastic to me.

Interests

I love dancing, primarily tap. I love finding out how things work and putting things together, hence the interest in lighting.
Nerdiness is my middle name, I tend to stay home and game whenever I'm at my house and have free time. I also have an affinity for going to the nerdy spots when I'm out of town. I've been to NYCC and have favorite comic shops in different cities across the country and shops that I'd love to visit.
I have bartended for a while and have come to appreciate non-IPA craft beers, Irish whiskeys, and good craft cocktails. I also love mixing drinks. The creativity and multitasking involved is amazing to me.
As strange as this sounds, I love chaos. Its a big reason that I have lived my life in the way that I have. If I stay in one place to long or live too much of a monotonous life then it feels as if I am wasting my time. I feel as if time spent should be spent on seeing what you want to see and doing what you want to do and to ignore the fear and the road blocks that are put in your way and just make it happen.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mainly into rock, pop rock, acoustic, metal, and the like. I listen to PATD, Fallout Boy, Twenty One Pilots, Slipknot, Korn, Neon Trees, Mushroomhead, and many more.
My favorite types of movies are Disney/kids movies, horror movies, and musicals. I love Beauty and the Beast, Repo! the Genetic Opera, Devil's Carnival 1&2, and Pan's Labryinth. One of my favorite past-times is going through the Netflix horror section. Because of that, I'm a terrible person to watch horror movies with on Netflix because I've seen most of them. I still feel terrible because I laughed so hard during a certain point in Hush. If you have seen the movie that I'm talking about then you most likely know the part and have likely laughed too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I dropped everything and moved to NYC and studied dance at Broadway Dance Center for 3 months. I had an amazing time and regret nothing. While part of me was scared, it was fantastic to overcome that fear. I was able to improve, experience new things, and make fantastic friends both inside the program and out.
I hope to make more memories and decisions like this in the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach bartending and cocktail crafting as well as just strange things that I've picked up over time. I can also give crash courses in dance especially tap and ballet. I can teach people about how the performing industry and service industry work. I've picked up a wide variety of strange skills just by watching people that I'd be more than happy to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love for the arts, technical side of the arts, and all things nerdy. I can share a plethora of stories that range from NYCC 2015 to impromptu trips to movie screenings across the country to strange bar patrons.
