ABOUT ME

I'm new to the travel world save for one family trip to Eastern Europe and many an amazing road trip including quite recently, across Canada. I figure, see the best of my own country before embarking into new ones and doing it via the road was spectacular. I'm a very open-minded, easy going individual, soon to travel with my good friend Jess. She and I both are very personable and understanding people looking for a go at backpacking!

PHILOSOPHY

I am an easy-going person who takes many things in stride. I want to better appreciate the circumstances of my environment by embracing them during the better or not-so-better times and work to find or make the better in them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently taking an initial crack at this community by staying on couches. I think it's an awesome idea and after I return from my travels with a positive couchsurf rendez-vous, I would love to open up my couches as soon as they become available...and not owned by my parents!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None formally with an international venue. However, if I consider all the couches I've crashed on in general, wearing the same clothes from the night before or some house-dweller's unsuspecting sweats, or perhaps consider all those friends, family and random individuals who've stayed on my comfortable, itchy or sweaty couch...well...I'd be considering quite a many nights indeed, including: "who are you and are those my socks"?

Interests

Meeting people, music, good conversation, good humour in the aforementioned conversations, road trips, cottages, ultimate frisbee and other such sports, reading...oh I do love it, friends, family and the art of sponteneity!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a plethora of movies, deep or moving as well as slap stick and cheesy not to mention foreign films. Movies from my childhood are still amazing so many years later.
I also love a variety of music as a good song is a good song, however, a lot of independent artists as well as ecclectic popular music is really finding me well these days. Radiohead, Neil Young, Broken Social Scene, James Brown et al!!!
Part of my undergraduate degree was in English which totally opened me up to a wide variety of authors. Lately, Im really into Canadian literature and adventure novels be they fiction or non. I love 'into the wild', Peter Pan (truly, its amazing), Catcher in the Rye (still love it), In the skin of a lion (Ondaatje), Cat's Cradle (Vonnegut or most anything by him) to name a few recent and classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canada. I like to say "I get it already Canada, you are beautiful!" after driving across the country with a good pal. It was just humbling and a great way to appreciate the wonderful Nation that Canada really is, as well as how much she has changed and how different one same place can be through people, environment or your perspective.

I can share my experiences in most of Canada as well as as a student here. I hope to just learn the things that make those places/countries I stay in so much themselves!
