Don't have a favourite writer but Hermann Hesse is the first name that came to my mind now . Often read sci fi, mostly Russian and American.
As for films I like some old art house films like Stalker by Andrey Tarkovsky, Verner Herzog, etc.
I also like Doctor Who. May be Sherlock but not the last episode.
