I'm currently working on a bachelors degree in graphic design at California Baptist University in Southern California. In my spare time, I'm trying to explore this beautiful world as much as I possibly can

ABOUT ME

Hi everybody! My name is Taylor Phillips and I'm looking to make a habit of traveling. While most of my friends are either quitting smoking or trying to lose weight for the new year, I told myself I would make an effort to travel and explore this beautiful country of ours. I work as a pizza delivery driver so I've been putting my tips to the side so that I would have no more excuses for not traveling.

When I'm not at work, I'm at school studying graphic design. I love graphic design as a whole, but my main interest has become illustration so I'm hoping to eventually pursue a career in that direction. Other than that, I love going concerts, coffee shops and any other place where I can meet new and interesting people!

PHILOSOPHY

As Conan O'Brien put it, "Work Hard, Be Kind, and Amazing Things Will Happen." Whether I'm putting together a project for school, helping a customer at work who is upset about their pizza or even just being a friend, the idea of working hard and being kind has been the constant backbone of my personal philosophy. No matter how tough life gets, I've found that working hard and maintaining a positive mental attitude will find you through any situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm completely new to couchsurfing, but after spending time in hostels and tents, I figured it was time to check the site out. While hostels are nice and I've met some great people at them, couchsurfing seems to offer a completely different experience. Couchsurfing sounds like the perfect way to make new friends while developing a better understanding of the city that a google search may not give.

Interests

I'm passionate about art and music. Regardless of what style of art or music, I'm open to anything. I love creating art and playing the guitar in my free time as well. Some of my favorite bands are The Weakerthans, Kid Dynamite and Camera Obscura. I'm also a fan of tattoos and tattoo culture. I have both sleeves done and am still debating on what to do next. 30 Rock and Arrested Development are my favorite shows and my favorite movies are Scott Pilgrim and High Fidelity. When I'm looking for peace and quiet, I often go to either Augies coffee shop here in Riverside or hiking at the beautiful Forrest Falls. The combination of coffee and hiking makes for the perfect day.

Music, Movies, and Books

I know I touched base on this in the interest section, but more of my favorite bands would be the Aquabats, Beulah, The Wonder Years and The Descendents. Some other favorite movies would have to be Shaun of The Dead and Rock n Roll High school. My favorite books are the Great Gatsby and Henry Rollin's Black Coffee Blues

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hopefully this doesn't sound too hokey, but the most amazing thing I've seen in my lifetime is nature. Whether it's hiking around Chile on a rainy day or camping out at Big Sur, nature never cease to amaze me. The truly amazing part is that I've barely seen anything. It's hard to even process what else is out there waiting to be explored!
