ABOUT ME

I love getting to know different ways of living and seeing the world, even though doing it poses a constant challenge. This is one of the reasons I love traveling.
I am a sensitive person and, as such, a pleasing physical environment and harmonious relationships are both very important to me.
I am enraptured by nature--the "great outdoors"--and love indulging in it by various ways and means.
I look forward to meeting lots of interesting people through Couchsurfing!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have attended couchsurfing events in Baltimore and Seoul and met various CS'ers, but I hope to surf in the future and perhaps host if I ever have a couch available!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed on various couches in my travels, but as of yet not through the couchsurfing website. However, the experiences I have had with the CS'ers I have met at event have been very positive and stimulating.

Interessen

Traveling, backpacking, reading, writing, languages rock climbing, drawing, cooking, enjoying good food and drink, experiencing art, having adventures--especially the unplanned kind that start off frustrating but end up being exhiliarating.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Books: recent: Small Is Beautiful by Schumacher; Language Death by Crystal; Three Cups of Tea by Mortenson and Relin; Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Gibbon. All-time favorites: The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings; Ishi in Two Worlds; Crime and Punishment; The Road Less Traveled; Physics by Aristotle; I and Thou; Care of the Soul.
I like many music artists, for example The Books, Julian Velard, Glen Hansard, some classical, latin rock, bluegrass, and much more.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Woke up (abruptly!) to a pack of wild boars tearing past our wilderness campsite - and to my friend swearing in Danish (place: rural Andalucia, Spain)

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I have a knack for teaching English and Spanish. I'm a decent writer- and artist too though less experienced. I know something of ironwork (my family's business). I have some outdoor skills. I am pretty widely read, thanks in large part to my alma mater and its "great books" curriculum.
