ABOUT ME

I am an adventurous soul with a sensible head. Let me explain: I like a good challenge, be it running a 1/2 marathon, hiking 30 miles in a day or starting a new job on the other side of the country. I love to cook (empanadas have been my go-to since returning from my honeymoon in Argentina/Patagonia) and will happily make dinner or brunch for anyone who is interested. While couchsurfing.org is new to me, couch surfing and travel is not. I have lived out of a backpack, my car, and on couches many a nights and have made sure to welcome travelers with open arms when I have had the ability to take them in.

Interests

I work for REI coordinating events and working with local non-profits who are maintaining, building or preserving recreational lands and waterways. I love my job and the ways I get to enrich the community. When I am not at work I am traveling, hiking, biking or running. And then, of course, making a great meal after all that!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Coming down off of Forester Pass into Kings Canyon, CA while hiking the PCT. The world was so big, towering granite walls above me, braided rivers below. I cried. I cried the tears of someone who was grateful to experience that moment. Seriously, all cheese aside, it was amazing.
Another experience I had was watching the sunrise from Bear Mountain, CT in 2009 when I was working as a caretaker for the AT. The low laying mist with the burning orange glow of the morning sun made me feel like I was on the last island in the world above a sea of mist.
