planning a summer trip
A proud Chicagoan who has been living and teaching in New York for the last 6 years. I love my job and I also love the summer break--I can still travel!! I live in the neighborhood of Astoria in Queens. Astoria has everything: diverse people, great food, good bars, and 15 minutes to Manhattan.
I love exploring NYC! Some of my favorite places are Jackson Heights where you can walk one block and go from Tibet and South Asia to South America and Brighton Beach, which is a Russian-speaking neighborhood right on the ocean and a short walk along the boardwalk to Coney Island.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
my first couchsurfing experience was in bozeman montana. i great time and they took us to a bbq and made us ride a tandem (2-person) bicycle. ever since then i've had nothing but positive experiences with CS. I host and surf a little and like to meet up with CSers to explore either their city or my city.
Even when I'm not traveling, I like to experience my city as a traveler (explore different neighborhoods, try different foods, etc.). When it's warm, I bike ride and in the winter I try to ski as much as possible.
I like reading and partying.
Music, Movies, and Books
books: demian, WE, the sympathizer, and everything by Junot Diaz and Aleksandar Hemon
music: i grew up mostly listening to good hip hop (the roots, common) but now i listen to everything.
