Hey, my name is Mike. I joined CS about 6 years ago, and during that time, I have had numerous excellent experiences through Couch Surfing. I started by attending local Couch Surfing meetings and meeting really cool people there, then took off to Europe for two months, Couch Surfing most of the way, and hanging out with some wonderful people. I feel that this website is a very helpful tool in allowing travelers to network with one another. It also gives you a chance to see the city you are visiting from a locals perspective. You often will see things that you might not have had the opportunity to see otherwise. For instance, while in Brugge, Belgium, my Couchsurfing host knew the guard of the museum we were visiting, and gained us access to a wing in the basement that was closed off to the public due to construction.
I lived all over, but always seem to return to New Orleans. It's safe to say that so far, New Orleans is my favorite city in North America (I did say so far; and Austin, Texas is a very close 2nd ;)
The way that I describe New Orleans to anyone who has never been there, is that New Orleans is like a little piece of Europe and the Carribean set down in the middle of the South. I love listening to and playing music, and any musicians looking to visit please don't forget your instrument. I play guitar, and violin/fiddle so we can definitely get something started. I'll have you playing a couple of Cajun songs before you know it.
*Update*: currently in the process of moving, but will have a couch available in the near future.
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, that I can do just about anything, with almost nothing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've attended several of the local Couch Surfing meetings, and have Couch Surfed all over Europe, but have only received one request from a Couch Surfer and regretfully could not host him, because we were out of town at the time.
Excellent experiences through Couch Surfing. I like the system set in place. Through references and profile information, you kind of have an idea of who you will be meeting before you meet them.
Backpacked and Busked all through Europe, and met so many wonderful people. Looking forward to my next trip.

Soooo many things.
Teach, Learn, Share
I LOVE music. What I hope to accomplish with the help of CS is to introduce authentic Cajun music to people that may not be familiar with it, and to absorb the music that they have to offer.
What I Can Share with Hosts
For me, the sharing of culture, stories, music, traditional foods, etc. is strong for me. I often like to cook traditional Cajun and Creole food for the people that are hosting me and love it when they invite their friends over to eat with us and play music. I've made quite a few lifelong friends this way :)
