To discover what this couchsurfing world is all about beforeI journey back to the Pacific Islands and Australia.
I was born in Tasmania, did not finish high school. Hitchhiked around Australia and the world in 1960's and 70's. Got married, moved to Canada. Got my degree. Had a daughter late in life, kept on travelling while working at whatever I could get. Tried to get two books published. Hiked all over Canada's backcountry Rockies, camped by the sea. My hardest accomplishment: Got my driver's license at age 52! Now I am off to see the world again. Still adventurous, still not enough money, and do not want to be lonely in new places.
Just keep on trying.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This is my first visit to the site and the concept, but I intend to try to help in whatever way I can.
none on this site, but I have had a lot of wanderers sleep on my couches in Hobart, Sydney, Johannesburg,London,Edmonton over the last fifty years. My Mum brought home two German hitchhikers, to our farm when I was 15. That started it all for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Awakened to the sight of Abu Simbel from the deck of a barge on the Nile. There was only one face, the rest had been moved to the new site. I had no idea it even existed. Could anything be better than that?
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask me anything about Tasmanian Devils! My geographical knowledge is great. I know how to travel alone in China, write a book but no idea how to get it published. I have a huge book collection on women in adventure and travel from the beginnings of history. I know archaeological sites all over world. I know how to harvest berries, live off the land. I can rock babies to sleep.
