I'm a late-twentysomething looking to find his way in the world and become more internationally cultured. I've spent time in New York City and DC, and I'm very passionate about my personal and professional development. I'm a technologist by trade, and looking for the best ways to use my skills to improve the world.
Appropriately enough, you can find out more about me here: https://thepezman.flavors.me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think that a community like this really needs to exist. We're taught not to open our homes to people we don't know intimately, but that's so far removed from the true spirit of community. To me, CouchSurfing seems to like an unparalleled opportunity to build a web of trust throughout the world, which I hope to travel along as I explore more of what it has to offer.
I enjoy a lot of what a big city has to offer. I like going to shows, walking through parks, and exploring the areas no one knows about. More generally, I love having great conversations, talking about the state of art and science, and going to great events and talks.
Music, Movies, and Books
I've been trying to become more cultured, but I haven't had the chance to read/watch/listen to a lot of the stuff I want to. Musically, I like classic rock, electronica and certain types of metal and classical. I like well-done comedy movies, tasteful indie films and Star Wars. I mostly read nonfiction, but have really enjoyed works on complex systems, organizational development and pop psychology. My favorite video games are action-platformer (Sonic the Hedgehog) and strategy/RPGs (Starcraft, Final Fantasy) though I don't get the chance to play those much anymore.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met Vint Cerf (the co-inventor of TCP/IP) in 2007, and he was an amazing inspiration that totally changed my career ambitions. Four and a half years later, I sat down in his office and interviewed him. It felt like closing a circle, and I've been more emboldened to introduce myself to people ever since.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a technologist, so I like talking about technology. If you have questions about how your computer works or the history of the Internet, I'm your guy. I also like meditating with others and exploring spiritual development. And if we just want to chill, I'm always down for a good video game.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am always happy to hold deep conversations, provide knowledge and resources for spiritual healing and tour some of the best parts of NYC (if I'm headed in that day).
