Sobre Mim

CURRENT MISSION

a place to crash until I get back on point and get my deposit back from the landlord at my old place in St. Johns.

ABOUT ME

i'm a self-described hip hop head and I'm also a freelance music journalist. I'm just looking for someone to kick it with who can crack as many jokes as I can, a sense of humor is a must.

I'm also very far to the left politically, i'm pretty much a socialist to be honest.

PHILOSOPHY

"Maturity is knowing you were an idiot in the past... wisdom is knowing that you'll be an idiot in the future... common sense is knowing that you should try not to be an idiot now" --J. Jacques

"People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply by the lives they lead."-James Baldwin

"Once is an accident, twice is a trend, three times is a fact."-Chris Berman

"A happiness that is predicated on the unhappiness of others - a mentality of "I win, you lose" - is a mean and petty form of happiness, one hardly worthy of the name at all. On the contrary, the highest, purest and most lasting form of happiness is the one which we can only bring about in ourselves by cultivating it in others. The recognition of this truth gives us a fulcrum upon which we can build a consistent, objective theory of human morality. Acts that contribute to the sum total of human happiness in this way are right, while those that have the opposite effect are wrong. A wealth of moral guidelines can be derived from this basic, rational principle." and that's that.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I fight the good fight, both as an activist, and now as a writer doing my best to let folks know that hip hop is so much more than materialism and misogyny.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

as far as this site goes, but I could really use a hand right now as I'm transitioning between places.

Interesses

I spend my time listening to music, writing about music, writing about life, and reading.

I'm also host of a very popular show on PSU's flagship radio station, KPSU. My show is called Rip Shop Radio and I specialize in underground hip hop. check me out!

I currently write columns for Okayplayer.com and Planetill.com in addition to covering Arts and Culture for the Student Newspaper of Portland State University, The Vanguard.

I've also written for a left-leaning alternative weekly in Montana called The Livingston Weekly.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I was at a beer festival in Germany called Der Berg, and literally as far as the eye could see there were people trashed drunk, partying, EVERYWHERE.

I was also at an emcee battle in Baltimore once and the winner, Flex Mathews, dropped one of the dopest lines off the top of the head I've ever heard-"I show no mercy like the Kobra Kai Dojo". nice Karate Kid reference, no?

My favorite emcee is Common and I got to see him live in Chicago for my 20th birthday. That was pretty much the best birthday ever!

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

I love to meet fellow writers and emcees. I also enjoy being around folks who are politically and socially conscious.
