I buy into those Jungian personality tests too much and I'm typical 'ENTP' meaning I'm happiest when around other people http://personalitypage.com/ENTP.html
I love history, there's no way around it. If a year of grad school hasn't been enough to kill my love, I feel like it's here to stay. My particular research interest is in Germany/Europe during the 1960s and 70s, but I can pretty much talk about any modern historical period.
I live for the little things in life, especially spending time with friends and just having a meal or a drink.
Obviously, for everyone, there is no time to waste, so I do my best to try and spend my free time away from TV or video games so I can work on creating something, whatever it might be.
I try to enjoy the pleasures of life without being an outright hedonist or materialist. I highly value learning and my friendships with people and the time spent with them perhaps more than anything else.
I believe it's a good thing to re-evaluate your life every now and then. There's nothing wrong with being a somewhat different person every two years or so.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Occasional host, less often can use it to stay with other people, looking to change that soon.
Not to beat this to death but: European history and the rest of World History is cool too :) Practicing my foreign languages (French and German, maybe one day, there will be more)
Writing for my own enjoyment in my free time, whether they be short satirical articles or an attempt at a "novel." I've been telling stories for years and I don't plan to stop any time soon.
Good Coffee and Tea
Being outside and enjoying nature as much as possible. Luckily DC has some nice trails.
Wit and Satire. Can't get enough of the stuff. The dryer the better.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't really have a set of "favorite movies," though I do like historical dramas and foreign films, go figure. The few TV shows I watch regularly: The Simpsons, The Daily Show, Arrested Development, Community and Peep Show.
I don't listen to a lot of "contemporary" music unless someone essentially forces it on me :P I like a lot of classical music, especially Romantic Era composers from Germany, Eastern Europe and Russia: Beethoven, Wagner, Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and others. Apart from that I also enjoy more folksy stuff (usually from 60s and 70s): Dylan and Simon and Garfunkle.
I read a lot of books, mainly history related, because of school. But I also love reading classic works of fiction, like Hemingway and Fitzgerald. I (like so many others) find Oscar Wilde's writing to be the wittiest ever created. I also have a soft spot for Russian literature, having read almost the entire canon of Dostoevsky. Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Shadow of the Wind is shockingly good too and I highly recommend it if you've never read it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, for what it's worth, I suppose I am proud that I wrote and "self-published" a "novel" when I was 20/21. Not that it's the best thing ever written, but I enjoyed doing it, nonetheless, and two years later I haven't completely distanced myself from it yet :P
