About Me

"I am trying to come to the point"

Living off raw rice and squirrels full of shot and writing epitaphs and looking at the trees feeling like Thoreau, five o'clock shadow boxing all around town, trying to map thunderclaps to diagrams of ocular pathways, rods as lightning and cones as rain, raining ink into salt water and wondering whether my time would be more profitably spent collecting rainwater to salt the inky squidfish for supper or maybe it should be catfish fried in tears but then I'd need collard greens because Carson McCullers says so, and since when have I ever been interested in cooking anyway, haven't we been over the raw rice and squirrels - this site is clearly hacking into the formerly dormant gendernormative caverns of my brain - not to imply that my brain is unusually big, just full of holes, like Swiss cheese ("what do you mean - hard?"), and is talking in quotes OK it probably bloody is, anyway it's my dearest ambition to be a toymaker or maybe a puppeteer because it makes me feel all redblooded and visceral to be doing things with my hands - take that gendernormativity.

Lifestrands as weaving silk. But I'll tell you in person (given half a chance)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

St Denis lifedrawing. Parisian wanderings with fellow initiates. Generally rabidly enthusiastic endorsement of the whole endeavour.

Surfing experiences unparalleled - Pacific Northwest, 2010, Paris, Eastern Europe, South East Asia, North Africa.. Attended a few meetings in London and am doing so now with renewed vigour in Paris, met loads of CSers - superlative people. Whistlestop tours all, but lovingly recollected.

Writing, reading, swimming, extrapolating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Redwoods, CA. Naked fruitfighting in the vaults under London Bridge. A swing on top of a hill in Tuscany. Mists of rain over the Neva. Climbing Toubkal. The Atlantic and bonfires after 30 days of walking across Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

Versed in little but enthusiastic about much. I sculpt, write, and teach lifedrawing, model, rant, and fashion elaborate puppets and stage sets. Currently writing my 2nd novel. I have recently become apprenticed to a carpenter. I am in love with maverick etymologies and storytelling of all kinds, and am always learning languages - too many, usually, to be strictly coherent at all times. I want to start an art college/ecocommune (Black Mountain/826 Valencia/Yaddo) and am forever scouting for interest, partners and funding. Currently acharning myself in the direction of Deleuze & Kierkegaard in a formation dirigée & soutenue. Learning the path of Gurdjieff & Ouspensky, Rumi, Buber and other unexpected, non-denominational sages, in an unexpected, non-denominational way. Susceptibility to synchronicity and lapses of awe before beauty or horror. Anthropology, development and humanitarianism are everpresent sattelites, orbiting the nebulae of my intent. Rivets, darkrooms, traintracks and the spoken word. Inability to concede defeat in the task of reducing all ecstatic phenomena of the known world into a text box. Hey ho...
