About Me
ABOUT ME
I don't really believe in "self-descriptions". Here in Brazil there's a song that goes something like "The man who says 'I am' is not" and I usually agree with it.
But I guess I could say I'm an easygoing, cheerful person, who doesn't take things too seriously. I am somewhat shy (used to be shyer, but working sometimes as a teacher has helped a bit).
PHILOSOPHY
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none"
-- The Countess in "All's Well That Ends Well"
"The lyfe so short, the craft so long to lerne"
-- Chaucer
"Display some adaptability!"
-- Bobby Shaftoe, in "Cryptonomicon" (by Neal Stephenson)
"Lose your dreams
and you will lose your mind."
-- Stones
"There was never any good old days
They are today, they are tomorrow
It's a stupid thing we say
Cursing tomorrow with sorrow"
-- Gogol Bordello
"I don't listen to any of that old talk, what makes life interesting is that this next second (snaps fingers) has never been lived before by anyone on earth!"
-- Joe Strummer
"look at your face
which can freeze into horror
or melt into love
look at all that life
all that beauty
you're human
they are human
we are human
let's try to be human
dance!"
-- last verses of "Human Beings", by Adrian Mitchel
"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want."
-- Calvin
"Little Fly
Thy summers play,
My thoughtless hand
Has brush'd away.
Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?
For I dance
And drink and sing:
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing."
-- William Blake
Interests
Travelling, languages, movies, music, books, science, computers and other geek stuff, football, good food, learning new things. I would like to say snowboarding, but I haven't done that in nearly a decade, so never mind.
Special mention to kicking back and relaxing (if possible in a hammock), eating shrimps and doing mostly nothing at the beach. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies (any kind) and the shared entertainment experience that going to the movies represents, music (from jazz to punk, taking the longest possible route... and I should say I have a weakness for punk covers), and books (literature in general, history fiction, fantasy and sci-fi; and non-fiction books on history, mathematics, biology, physics and astronomy).
I'm not a non-mainstream radical, but I love stumbling upon great original and unknown stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The year I spent in France was probably the most amazing year of my life, but I guess the most amazing thing I did was skydiving.
Teach, Learn, Share
I guess I could teach how to dance to some Brazilian music, specially Frevo, a typical dance from the state of Pernambuco!
I could also teach some bad words in Mauritian Creole! ;)
