Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Though it might sound cliched, I love meeting new people wherever I go, be it on the train or across a crowded restaurant table. The best way to get immersed in a new city is to meet the locals! David Foster Wallace once compared tourists to invasive insects that destroy the authenticity of the places they visit; I'd like to take a more positive perspective on tourism and think that I, though probably still an insect, will be a friendly one that tries to understand and support the places to which I travel.
