I am kind and resilient. I managed businesses for 25 years but the decline of ethics resulted in my retirement at age 50. Now I live a low-cost life in a rural area where I have an energy efficient small house and grow vegetables, fruit and nut trees, and grapes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe in the importance of cultural contact to bring about a more peaceful and sharing world. Travel using hotels, restaurants, and normal sightseeing is very narrow and does not produce concern and understanding of other people. I want to do my part to reduce the selfishness and distrust that so many people have.
I like to constantly learn new things, I like history, philosophy, science, cultural learning, I am involved with an international group to get a climate change agreement in Paris 2015. I do not like shopping or typical sightseeing, I like to go deeper. I research small-scale agriculture, renewable energy, and follow the latest research related to brain function and emotions.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like Danish movies. In music I like the work of Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My family is like the United Nations. My oldest daughter is from Korea, my second daughter is married to a man from Mumbai and lives in Brussels, now we need to add someone from African and South America to make it complete. My children are wonderful adults, they get most of the credit.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am happy to teach marketing and business, or just to offer some useful insight or advice or business contacts. I can share my experiences with small-scale self sufficiency.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am happy to share and answer any questions about the American culture and political scene. I enjoy conversation, and my high curiosity means that conversation is easy and enjoyable. My fields of interest are very broad, so it is likely that I am interested in, and have knowledge of, most things that interest others. I am polite and easy going.
