About Me

I like making odd metaphors that somehow make no sense and total sense at the same time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ever since I turned 18, I've fallen in love with experiencing our wonderfully diverse world first-hand. Most of my life I've been stuck in Michigan. I think, by the time I turned 18, I could count the number of times I left the state on my hands, and all but two of those times were just day trips to Canada or Ohio. Once I got a taste of travel I didn't want to stop.

Unfortunately, traveling at my age has its drawbacks. Not many of my friends are able to explore with me, either due to the cost or prior commitments. Some of my best experiences while traveling have been meeting people living in the places I visit. In NYC I stayed with a friend who lived in the city, and she introduced me to some of her new friends in the Big Apple. My nights hanging out with them were some of the best of the trip.

Couchsurfing can offer that. Obviously I'm not expecting to become best friends with every couchsurfer, or for them to hang out with me all night, but being able to meet people who know the area and the culture makes the traveling experience that much more interesting.

Unfortunately, I live at home with my family right now, and they're not too keen on letting strangers into our home. But I hope to move into my own place next year, and hopefully then I'll be able to share a piece of Michigan with others.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:

I'm fluent in English and would happily practice with you if you're interested in polishing the language. I enjoy baking bread (although if you're more than a beginner at that, you might not be able to learn much from me!).

Learn:

Broadly speaking, I want to learn how other people look at the world. The way I view the world has been challenged in ways I thought were ludicrous just a few years ago, and I'd love to hear your take. I'm trying to learn German. Always happy to get tips for baking or how to not be a shit chef in general!
