About Me

To live, learn, laugh, love & have fun

I am a very easygoing person who has an incessant desire to discover, seek, search and experience life to it's fullest! I love meeting new people and exploring new cultures, especially tasting any cuisine new to my palate. I love to talk about almost anything but more so, listen to people's opinions on life and painted tales of traveling storytellers. I love learning about new things, and being introduced to new realms of thought, from astrophysics to cultural anthropology, poetry to microbiology. I am a lover of quotes but horribly fail at reciting them verbatim. Most people poke fun at me for being short in stature... but I've met others who are much shorter!

Since I am a sucker for quotes, this is by far one of my favorites which describe my own personal philosophy: "We are 90% alike and 10% different. The 10% of difference is a gift to others."

"La vida tiene sus maneras de enseñarnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de confundirnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de cambiarnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de asombrarnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de herirnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de curarnos. La vida tiene sus maneras de inspirarnos..."

Also, another quote from one of my favorite books: "When you really want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."

If you can figure out which, I commend you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel & learn, therefore I can contribute by sharing a bit of my own knowledge, experiences and stories about my own travels.

I have never hosted someone in my own home, but I do find that being a guest is one of the best experiences to have, as I have been extremely lucky with my last few hosts, who have been purely gracious and amazing people. If you find yourself in any town, I feel it's worth it to meet up with any locals for a drink or stroll around the city, as they can offer precious insider information to the city, a nice chat and invaluable company.

I honestly have too many! I suppose I can begin with the beach. I love to dance & sing. I'm learning how to play the guitar. I play the piano but am out of practice. I have a great appreciation for poetry, movies, books, the great outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies & Books: Too many! But I'll list as much as I can.
Movies: Fight Club, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Tron, Avatar, Amelie, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Motorcycle Diaries, Garden State, Memento, Requiem for a Dream, Life is Beautiful, Vitus, August Rush, Three Seasons
Books or Writers: Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, His Dark Materials, Pablo Neruda, Paulo Coelho, David Eddings, Gandhi, Henry David Thoreau, Shakespeare, Calvin and Hobbes

Music: I like a little bit of everything, I have no complaints. I don't mind hearing new sounds from all corners of the world; I'd love to fill my music library with more! My iTunes generally has more music that consists of acoustic guitar and piano, but you can also find tribal, musicals and even Mexican banda! Some of my favorite artists are: India.Arie, Incubus, Sara Barielles, Colbie Callait, Nina Simone, Big Mama Thorton, Kings of Leon, Mana, Goo Goo Dolls, Coldplay, U2, Maldita Nerea, Linkin Park, Michael Buble.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things happen everyday right in front of our eyes, from the grandeur to the mere simplistic. I've been blessed to visit the mysterious hidden city of Machu Picchu in Peru twice. I've witnessed the miraculously preserved glacier Perrito Moreno in Patagonia as well as seen the daunting Moai statues on the magical Polynesian Easter Island. I have taught English in a slum just in outskirts of a small Chilean town with some of the sweetest, exuberant and modest children I've ever met. I've been surrounded by great people who've passionately banded together for a real worldwide humanistic cause.

There is always something to learn from anyone who you cross paths with.
