About Me

I am usually good at writing but not when it comes to writing about me :D
Others could tell you more about me as a social being as I don't pay much attention to myself when I am with friends or when I meet new people. I used to be very shy but it has somehow changed (I have no idea when it's happened :P). But I have always been interested in meeting new people and sharing life stories so I quess my curiosity about the world overcame my shyness. But in general, I would say I am considered to be a warm, open person who dislikes prejudices and likes to give people time to show them what they really are. I love funny things and I would say I have a quite good sense of humour. I am not so easy-going as I might seem at the beginning; I am actually quite devoted to rules (at least the ones I've set to myself) and like some order in my life. However, I try to be more spontaneous and open myself to everything life can give me (if I am brave enough to accept it).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mostly because I like meeting new people (I am repeating myself now) and because I love getting to know other cultures. I also love languages, the way they connect to each other and how similar they can be if only one stops and listens. Since I am studying Latin as well I have the opportunity to explore the mother of many modern European languages and so I am fascinated by how we are not even aware of the influence one language can have on many others.
And because of one thing as well: I love food :) I love trying new foods and flavours which can only be truly experienced in their natural habitat, in the culture they origin from.

Interests

Hm, there are so many things ... Definitely languages, cultures, countries, different people, meeting new people; animals, nature; medicine, human body, human brain, psychology, behaviour; books, life stories, poems, writing; food, cooking; sea, swimming, diving, mountain hiking; history, but not only the 'big events', I want to know more about the daily life in the past, about the struggles, joy, love, hartred, laugh, humour, sorrow people felt like we feel; and then life, all the big and small things that can happen to you, all the people that you belong to and they somehow belong to you, all the secret and thin, but strong bonds that are created between people every day. It's wonderful to be a human and it's wonderful to be alive, not only because of everything you can experience but also because of everything you can give to other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Huuh, music ... Too changeable for me, too variable. I can actually listen to most of the genres if I am having fun. But when I need to listen to music for me and because of me, I would say rock, hard rock and metal as well ('Beauty can be found even in the darkest of times.'); as for the bands, I would set out Siddharta (yes, a Slovenian band and a very good one), Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Queen, Pretty Reckless, Arctic Monkeys, Frank Zappa aaaaaand so on (it keeps changing all the time). But I don't usually listen to music when I need some time alone, I appreciate the silence.
Movies ... non-American, please, or at least not the majority of the American movies. I think there's no depth in them.
Books, my beloved things. I couldn't pick one and say it's my favourite, though I really like everything Carlos Ruiz Zafon wrote and was translated to English, I like crime stories, thrillers, books with a very good plot twist or simply a powerful life story. Oh and of course, Harry Potter :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm ...
As I don't think of myself as an amazing human being this will be a bit difficult.
I travelled around all by myself last year (even when I was still 17) without any precise knowledge about airports.
I was the best in the country in my generation in writing essays (ok, it's not fascinating but it means a lot to me).
I have penpals in Russia and USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some interesting things about history, definitely about Latin and the influence it has on languages, a few things about the origins of the names (maybe I will know the origin of your name), I can teach you Slovene if you want and if you have the persistence for it (I must say, it's one of the most difficult languages in the world; maybe it won't seem like that at the beginning, but trust me, the dual is not the hardest part of it). I can teach you about my country and it's culture, about our food, our habits, and I can teach you about me. After all, I can be interesting :P
