Music, Movies, and Books
There is always a song stuck in my head, but it ranges from Lianne La Havas to Billy Joel to Fleet Foxes. Moral of the story: I find a place for practically any and all music.
I was recently introduced to the French film "The Intouchables", which tells of the rich friendship between a paraplegic and his caretaker. The film overflows with laughter;I plan to return to it often.
Steinbeck wrote that “No story has power, nor will it last, unless we feel in ourselves that it is true and true of us.” And I'm on the hunt for these true stories. A few I've found are East of Eden, Jane Eyre, The Book Thief, All Quiet on the Western Front, Moby Dick, and the list is ever growing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago I got to teach piano to a nonverbal autistic student. At the end of a year full of meltdowns and struggles, she played "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" at the recital. That was one of the proudest moments of my life.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I find passion to be highly contagious. Even if I've never heard of the thing, if you love it I get excited about it too. So hosts will find me an enthusiastic listener.
